The Labour Party

The inland revenue normally carry out investigations Angela Rayner has a dozen cops, what was going on in her council house, was it the seat of a major tax avoidance crime ? The Tories demand a review and the police jump to investigate
After Covid the police weren’t interested in party-gate they relented and reluctantly agreed to look into the carry on double standards

A dozen cops now investigating Angela Rayner over her council house sale in 2010 meanwhile.

To be fair, I can understand why they need a dozen officers.

I live in a close with about 15 houses. I know everyone by name, and see most of them regularly, but haven't got a clue if they're really there. I found out recently that one neighbour had been spending most of the week looking after his mum in Blackburn for the last two years. Still saw him most weeks, and assumed he lived there full time. Another couple I was told had split up, but see them both regularly and couldn't tell you who had moved out. I don't think I've ever lived somewhere where I could guarantee a neighbour was in their house more than a few nights a week.

I assume satellite images, gps tracking, cctv and phone date could all be commandeered. It's probably been long deleted, but if we put another ten officers on the case, we could probably crack this sometime after the next election.

They need to have it under one umbrella, I’m not an expert at all but it just seems ludicrous that they have different companies for different aspects. It certainly can’t be any worse, watching that Ben Elton documentary was an eye opener.

That's the intention. Track and trains. But taking track maintenance under direct control would probably still be done by contracting with private firms - though as with train procurement that system is prone to fluctuations in demand that may leave some companies with no work at times.

I don't think we'll depart too much from EU rules on opening the system to competition (perhaps one reason why they'll still allow "open access" to companies like Hull Trains and Lumo on the East Coast main line).

I'll believe it when I see it. Must be a GE due.
Well, at least we can now hold them to account if it doesn’t happen. A promise is a promise.
