The Linesman v Arsenal stood down (updated)

Re: Linesman form Sunday stood down....

Hoping theres another reason why he has been taken off the match.

Pathetic if true.

Top man! Think if something is going to be done about ticket prices, now is when its gonna happen. Don't know if city fans sent back 900 tickets in protest, couldn't afford them, or "don't have the fanbase to sell them", or even if it was a combination of them all, but people seemed to take notice this time.

Certainly wasn't that. Took 6,000 for a Wednesday night League Cup game last season.
Quite sure we took more like 9K mate ...granted it were 10 sheets a pop

Rumour going round Facebook saying the linesman has now been pulled from certain matches anybody heard anything ??

He has been pulled, supposed to be doing the west brom game but taken off it. Let's do something about it...

Oh give over.

Personally i think the linesman was looking for his bit of fame. Arrogant is another word that springs to mind,

Or could it just be that the Linesman was showing some empathy with football fans being ripped off?

Good to see he is being bollocked for passing a comment on something that was none of his business

Re: Linesman form Sunday stood down....

He went a step too far. Arsenal's pricing was none of his business. Neither was telling City players what to do.

Standard practice to shake everyone's hand on the pitch at the end of the game, including the officials and then go over to applaud your fans. Liner's comemnts of course correct, but he jumped the gun a tad.

He could be a footy fan also that hates it when he's in the stands, that the players don't appreciate that the fans that have travelled and don't get acknowledged enough for that.

It's stupid to act against him.

As refs and linos will, they will inevitably say 'Good goal/ great game/ well played" to players or, as we have seen, have a jovial laugh with certain players and managers of a Scum type nature, etc.

Why is it okay to offer interaction then...?

He will indeed be a football fan. Thing is though I would think the officials are all told to keep their thoughts on things to themselves. Like the Chelsea/City game a few years ago - handshake-gate. There is every possibility the officials of that match had their views on things, but imagine if one of them was caught saying, 'don't shake that cunts hand', or 'why the fuck did you not shake his hand?'. They are just people at the end of the day and will have their views on things but like I say, I would imagine they are told not to get involved in such things. He got directly involved in a current major issue within the game by voicing his opinion there, because whilst he masked it by saying what he said, what he actually meant was that the prices Arsenal charged are ridiculous.

This is such a stupid decision by the Professional Game Match Officials Ltd - that guarantees this issue & story will continue to run.
As fans we must take this opportunity of current media interest to keep the pressure on - starting with a complaint to your MP about rip-off ticket prices.

That's all well and good and understand, but you opened a door with involvement:

What's the level of 'direct involvement'??

Having a chuckle with a player? Have a laugh with the 4th Official and they engaging?

Interesting.

Call me a bit touchy but I was pissed off when I heard his comments... telling Lescott and others what to do and assuming they wouldn't have gone over to the fans anyway... could have given the press another reason to slag us off.

Interesting that this is all coming out today, the day of Vinny's appeal.

I watched the 6-1 the other morning, or the highlights on the City site to be more precise. During the Evans sending off Clattenberg has his hands on the shoulders of one of the United players, as if to calm him down. Roger Milford or Keith Cooper wouldn't have done that, they would have told him to fuck the fuck off in no uncertain terms. That, within the actual game being played, is 'involvement'. Thing is though the Lino here got involved in a current issue within the game, and I would think there are rules which tell them not to do that.

-- Tue Jan 15, 2013 12:31 pm --

Sounded like he had a manc accent, he could have been a blue? Why are people slagging him on here for asking lescott to do what half the fuckers on here moan about them never doing?
Bluemoan strikes again
Well said, some fucking twats on here, calling him out for the simple reason that they are on bluemoon and therefore have to.
