I remember Tony Pulis’ Stoke side setting up defensive, going 1-0 down early and then REALLY shutting up shop and not even trying to play on the break. Just happy to lose 1-0 and not get humiliated.
At least Newcastle yesterday had a go on the break and actually scored. And Chelsea last season held out for a while, so you could say it was working for them.
Stoke under Pulis were just happy to get beat and go home.

I know its about the Etihad but Southampton have form. I remember a game at Maine Road when we were promoted along with them. Last game of the season. As long as they didn't lose by 20 goals or something like that they were up. Don't think they crossed half way line. Worse than the Sun Ji Hai game.Southampton.

If Benitez is a good coach then I’m a Dutchman. Thank god they didn’t get anything yesterday playing like that. I personally think that’s the most disgracefully negative performance, and there have been quite a few, I’ve ever seen from a visiting team in our 15 years at the Etihad.
