The Most Negative Team To Visit The Etihad?

Another Maine Road one was Sunderland when I think we absolutely battered them, they made no attempt to play but came away with a 1-0 win.

Huddersfield were dreadful the other week and Wagner didn’t even try and pretend otherwise

Academica de Coimbra , UEFA Cup , 1970 , they never passed the half way line , kicked us off the park for 90 minutes , when Tony Towers smashed in the winner it was one of the most satisfying goals of that season , always remember this for Academica playing in an all black kit and i was sat in the Platt Lane End , and there was a guy at the back of the stand bellowing at the top of his voice that they were dirty black b-st-rds all through the game , not sure if it was politically correct at the time , but it certainly brightened up a drab game.

No, Newcastle still get the prize, but it’s for last year when they were even more negative. It was truly awful to watch.

You should’ve been at the Newcastle away game. Even more negative despite being at home, I’d never before seen a team who were clearly under instruction not to engage at all if the ball crossed into their attacking half - even if it was Newcastle who took it over the half way line. I swear that quite a few times in the first 80 minutes, they had a chance to break, but as soon as the ball crossed halfway they just let it roll back to us and stopped running as if there was an invisible force field across the half way line

They also came out at the start and handed bunches of flowers to our team, then kicked the shit out of us for 120 minutes.

The first leg was my first ever European away match. Pissed as a fart by the start of the second half! A sign of things to come at the time. Then on to Wembley for the League Cup final on the Saturday.
