Fully agree

If somebody could guarantee that the extra tax would land in the NHS which would be free as you said from political influence than I'd be more than happy to pay more... I'm sure most would
Problem being, the NHS is a large colander, the more you put in the more the private sector filters off. The only solution is get these leeches removed.
Already exists and has for some time. I've said that a few times. If trusts are overpaying for something compared to another then they are not taking advantage of the collaborative procurement organisations. No more PFI and if government wants to do something drastic then any PFI arrangements still being paid, if the total loan amount has already been paid we say that's it, no more and those that haven't we pay off the total amount borrowed, not a penny more and tell them that is that.
Purchasing is the big thing for me as I've seen numerous reports where trusts pay stupid and often ridiculously different amounts for the exact same things across the country.
Make it a central purchasing service that has huge buying power and drives the best and hardest bargains like any other business would.
There is a hell of a lot of money going into the NHS and lots of it is being pissed down a drain.
Only when we have stopped doing that can we say what is and what isn't needed.

The procurement centres used to (and may well still do) approach each trust and ask them to join up so it won't be because they aren't aware. There may be good reasons for a trust not paying for membership of one of these organisations and not having access to the cheaper contracts.Which should be the subject of an investigation and heads should roll.
Management should also be looked at as well along with the salaries that go with it.
Yes its a huge organisation but the sheer numbers of managers all earning frankly ridiculous salaries that would be incredible in the private sector never mind the public one is ridiculous.
By all means pay top money to capable individuals but then they dont need another 10 under them also earning 6 figures and so on and so on........
I hate "whataboutery" but how many have the "failings" in the NHS killed? Compare it to how many were killed because of the decision to go into Iraq by Labour and Blair? Any death at the hands of politicians is wrong but the politicians we have today are more interested in one upmanship than really making a difference...Amazing that some people are surprised that the tories nhs has killed people and will see off many more. Bluemanc100 was so surprised he highlighted his "wow" in red when i mentioned this...
I suppose those with private healthcare and no conscience can justify voting for boris anyone without the former and possessing the later surely cannot.
No need to highlight this point with colour...black is more than appropriate.
