The NHS

Fact according to who?

The person that wrote it?

£8 Billion a year in management wages seems a tad over the top to me.

Well done on the copy and paste job though

Not from a person, as I am sure you know, as you have read it, just this morning!
It was from the Commission into Leadership and Management in the NHS, by the Kings Fund, with the numbers taken from the Office for National Statistics. Also, not sure how copying and pasting part of an article is any different from putting up a picture or a tweet, although if that is all you are complaining about, fair play.
As for the costs, that's management and administration, a fact often overlooked by people who it suits to overlook. You know, receptionists, secretaries, cooks, cleaners and porters etc... All part of 'admin' as they don't offer direct clinical care, but always lumped in with 'management costs'. Perhaps we should just have Doctors and Nurses running it all? It's not like they have much else to do........

Which is exactly what I said isn't it?
Not disagreeing, apologies if I inferred that.

My first post referred to using a working computer system that highlights where inefficiencies lie when medical staff do their best to cope with demand.

Engineering was often full of hard working people who were inefficient and were told by accountants who know little about engineering that their hard work made no profit.each year.
Computers allowed them to identify bottlenecks and constraints and work smarter, not necessarily harder resulting in accountants verifying profits every year.

For nhs the computers would do the same by allowing the smarter working to happen resulting in faster throughput and progress of workload. More money would probably be needed but would be applied to an efficient system and its effect measured quickly and acted upon during its operation.

As I have said previously, the one in Andalucia Spain works extremely well, have look at it nhs it will be 80 percent at least of what you should aim for..

My Mother worked in the NHS for 40 plus years and she says the single biggest issue is the abuse of the system. Too many people taking zero responsibility for their own health and too many people turning up at their doctors or A&E when a quick visit to the pharmacy would do. They had patients who would turn up for appointments every single week without fail. They doctors had to see them. They couldn't turn them away and there was no point in removing them from their patient list as they'd only go elsewhere & cause the same issue at a different practice.

There's also people out there who genuinely have no idea how the NHS is funded. I've recently had a heated argument with my Niece (who doesn't pay a penny in tax or NI and is one of those guilty of running to the doctors at the slightest sign of any 'ilness') who had no idea that the NHS was just free at the point of delivery and not actually free!

Until people start taking some responsibility for their own health & stop abusing the system, no amount of money thrown at the NHS is going to solve it's issues.
What was her position? was she seeing patients? if not how would she know what is wrong with them?some people have to go to see a dr or nurse every week or really often,i'm in the chemist a lot and am always hearing people getting advice, you can't blame people going to the drs if they are ill,say someone is obese and is on weight management fron the nurses clinic but until they lose the weight they need help for diabetes or ulcers or blood pressure,i agree with taking responsibilty but you can't just look at someone and make a judgement

She was the Practice Manager. She had to field complaints from the GP's about certain patients consistently turning up for no real reason.

And let me tell you... there's no such thing as patient confidentiality in the doctors rest room!
