The NHS

Is that the bloke off The Hills Have Eyes ?

My old mam took ill yesterday morning, I rang 999 and got an ambulance, Meghan the girl who talk the call waited on the phone for the ambulance to arrive which took around 5 minutes. The paramedics acted with great haste, got my mum on drip stuff and blue lighted her to hospital. I followed along in the car because my mum couldnt answer questions and I would be needed so the restrictions didn't apply. The Doc in Emergency gave me the DNR talk, one of the hardest conversations anyone will ever have, yet he was brilliant, compassionate, calm and rational and he said my mam might not see out the hour. The nursing staff was fabulous, working gowned up because of Covid, with the emergency Doctor and a surgeon consultant they got my mam over the worse and she is now stable and recovering in Acute medical. She isn't out of the woods completely but she is a battler and a tough old girl and with the magic and the hard work of the amazing people of the NHS she is still with us.

These people are the true face of the Britain I love, they work selflessly, with compassion and every single one of them is worth there weight in gold. We are so lucky to have such an amazing service free at the point of the use full of brilliant people who work their arses off for the good of us all. I salute each and every one of them, they were magnificent.

Great post Russ, such a pity we only hear of the good stories when it means someone is most in need.

Best wishes to your mam pal.
