All the while this has been happening here, my area has been covered in thick black cloud. Doh!

Nice, the aurora map I watch last night had pretty much the entire UK covered. never seen that before. Typically cloudy everywhere.

My niece flew to Iceland but saw nothing. While she was away the Aurora appeared in Yorkshire, not far from her home!

My niece flew to Iceland but saw nothing. While she was away the Aurora appeared in Yorkshire, not far from her home!

A bit 'off topic', but that reminds me of the time the Lavinda family went on a six-hour whale watching trip from Mull. It cost a fortune, poured down solidly for the whole trip, and we saw nothing. Not even a porpoise.
Meanwhile, back in Mull, people sat in the pub enjoying an hour watching a fin whale swimming around in the harbour.
