The Northern Lights

We dont have northern lights down saff because we have one of Europe's biggest light polluter. It can be seen for miles and our little village glows orange. Its amazing what big companies can get away with.

This bottom picture is like the view from where we live.

How do you get the Aurora in Idaho and we don’t in Manchester when we’re about 10° further North than you?
Although Manchester is closer to the geographic north pole, Idaho may be closer to the magnetic north pole (which is in northern Canada) and it is the charged particles being funnelled in to the magnetic poles that causes the aurora. Plus you probably have far better chances of dark skies in Idaho than Manchester which makes it easier to see.

We don't get to see it in Manchester because it's always pissing down when it decides to play out.
Plus we don't have proper darkness as we live in an Amber coloured world at night because of all the light pollution

Looks like some of the ones my brother has done. He lives in Tassie as well.
Yep we get great displays of the Southern Lights (Aurora Australis).

Hobart is 42 degrees south (about the same latitude as Bordeaux)
