The song was shite, his vocal on the night was horrible, and the staging was bland.

It wasn't the worst song (that was emphatically Germany's) but it was in my bottom 5 and not surprised it got nul points.

I thought Italy's song was the worst of the night, but I also didn't like the Swiss song or the Lithuanian or Bulgarian songs, but hey what do I know!!! - I thought ours was OK but yes certainly not great

Might be an Italian (cultural) Catholic thing. Priests kiss altars in similar fashion.
