The Offside Rule is stupid !

Just studying this VAR still I posted earlier…

What makes Sterling’s dotted line 11 dots long and Frederixks’ blue line 10 dots long?

Why does Sterling’s red line on the floor not occur here where I’ve drawn a yellow line?

Almost all the close ones can be changed to suit one way or another. The fact that the football authorities cloud it all in secrecy and don’t tell us the detail for how they reach decisions makes it worse n’all.

This one here…

Zouma’s yellow line is where his arse is:

Why is Zouma’s line not drawn from the edge of his sleeve at his shoulder (where I’ve drawn a red line) which appears to be further back than his arse?

Why has the frame been stopped when the ball has left de Bruyne’s foot (unless he’s got a size 24 right foot?!)

If the frame goes back until the ball is actually at the point of contact with de Bruyne’s foot, Raheem would be about where my green line is:

and van Dijk was further back at that point n’all.

Was talking about this today and I said something without thinking.-
If VAR need to draw lines to see if it’s offside them it isn’t
It was an off the cuff comment ,yet the more I think about it the more I think I was right and if the frame is frozen when the pass is made and the VAR officials can’t tell without lines then benefit should be given to the attacker.
When you starting at Stockley park?

Should be clear and obvious (unlike Sunday) and the nod always to the attacker if in doubt.

great work

Why not abandon the lines? Let VAR look at a still frame and if they can't tell "just by looking at it" then it can't be a clear an obvious error, let it go.

Agree with that as a solution. The only problem I see, is that there are rarely offside shouts that are in line with a camera, so it would be difficult to judge from a tv angle. On the other hand, if there was any doubt, advantage should be given to the attacker so I suppose it shouldn't matter.
