The Post General Election Thread

Ignoring the fact that "the people " voted to keep Dave the Destroyer at the helm to carry on his great work.

This will turn into an excuse for the unwashed work shy to deface war memorials.

Why do you feel the need to continually insult people exercising their lawful and legitimate right to protest as 'work shy' and 'unwashed'?

Yes, I'm sure that there will be some Socialist Worker paper sellers. Yes, I'm sure that some tiny anarchist groups will attempt to hijack the demo and may even attempt to cause trouble. But the overwhelming majority of people who will attend will be ordinary working people, like the majority of people who post on this board. Your constant pathetic insults about everyone who does not share your right wing views, with constant demonisation of working people as lazy, workshy, benefit cheats is childish and tedious.

And?

He's reduced the deficit has he not? And is continuing to do so.

Simple question.
He is certainly attempting to reduce the current account deficit, which every party (even the SNP) promised to do. So he's hardly being radical in that. The difference lies in the speed and scale of the various plans. His attempts to do so in the first half of the last administration acted as a drag on growth and he had to up borrowing again, meaning he conspicuously failed to meet his promise about eliminating the deficit. No serious economist believes his current proposals are remotely achievable.

The Tories never tire of criticising Brown for maintaining a deficit in a time of growth but I'd like to see some Tories recognise that Osborne has doubled national debt and is pursuing an objective which is unachievable on the scale he's proposed.

You do realise that the national debt was always going to increase whilst there is not a surplus don't you?

And that is was always going to be a record one from the starting point it was at in terms of total also.

Point me to a post where I have criticised anyone for working or the job they do.

He wants legislation in case your mob ever get in again and run a deficit during sustained periods of record growth.

Ask rascal. He's a big fan of Keynes. That's what Keynes calls for.
According to Jeffrey we're in a period of sustained growth , so one assumes he'll be introducing this legislation in his next budget.
N'est ce pas?

Did people vote for this, did any Tory candidate actually say this was what they planned on doing, this is in Lancashire but its the same for most areas but the worst affected areas are in the North, like I have said now they have the mandate people really will start to notice and this is just the start

People voted for what they perceived as the safest option. They don't read the small print. Unfortunately.

I know, in this thread people have said the people voted for Tories because they wanted a smaller state or some other idealogical reason when the truth be told they were more or less the incumbent government and had been restrained from creating social havoc by the Lib Dems, no where apart from vague promise to cut the welfare state did the Tories actually say where they were going to make the savings, we are starting to find out
