The Post General Election Thread

Surely the only real post election debate should be about electoral reform? The Torys and to a lesser extent the SNP have been handed a mandate to govern by the people. You can't argue with that although it remains to be seen if we are in effect a nation of turkeys that have just voted for a bigger Xmas.
The thing is that they should get a much harder time in westminster from Libs, UKIP, and the even the Greens than they actually will because our electoral system is scewed in favour of the big two partys.
The failiure to win electoral reform and any sort of proportional representation in the last Parliament should quite rightly haunt the Libs for years. Of all the ways they took it up the arse as part of the coalition this is surely the worst?

I love it when the country is doing well it's all down to the private sector when it's bad it's because of the public sector, over the last ten years Id say the public sector has suffered just as much and certainly people on the frontline have, bin collections down, less police, nurses, fire fighters, waiting times up, roads not done, this is all part of it and we have all suffered because of the consequences of a shit government and private sector greed.

The system needs changing but going from fptp to pr isn't the answer

Bored of the SNP hype. What makes them think they will achieve more than pre 2010 lib dems when they had more seats? SNP will achieve nothing apart from expressing their bitterness. They will be nothing more than a bad smell in the Palace of Westminster if they turn up.

I think they had a lot of MP's in areas high with Students and won lots of seats because of their promises to deal with high tuition fees then they shit all over the students and that really bit them on the arse. Clegg would have been out on his arse if it wasn't for the Conservatives voting tactically.
The Withington MP suffered the same fate. This one thing was a massive factor as the lib dems had a large core of student voters who felt betrayed

Not at all. Krankie spent the whole election threatening to cause huge disturbance to the economic recovery and forming a coalition with Labour. With less seats than Lib Dems pre 2015 election why do they think they're going to make a difference?

It's the symbolism that matters for them

I would love to see them rot on the oppositions benches with no power or influence

My rather Laboured point (heh) is that the idea of just creating apprenticeships whilst cutting the benefits is stupid because the majority of young kids who go on benefits don't WANT to be on benefits, but are forced to due to the lack of jobs. Out of those three million, how many do you think will touch Leigh or any of the thousands of towns like it across the UK that have been left to rot.......

Thousands of towns like it, it that possibly the daftest thing you have ever posted?

Have you any idea how many towns there are in the UK?

Obviously when I said "town" I wasn't referring to the geographical designation of it but the idea of "places"
