The Pro Road Cycling Thread

Thanks, I've not managed to catch up yet. I had understood he had a cardiac arrest due to his fall. Regardless such a sad loss of life.

Sadly, but somewhat inevitably, my initial reaction was one of "has he been doing his midnight stretches", which, if you know what I'm implying, is a sad state of affairs for me to think like that, but a view shared with the cycling lads I was chatting to today. Tremendously sad, whatever the cause behind the death.

Bumpty bump.

Back from a great weekend in Harrogate for the World Champs.
Absolutely horrendous (aka typical Yorkshire) weather, but a fantastic event. Was great seeing and hearing fans from all over the world around the town and in the bars and restaurants last night - the ‘Dutch takeover’ place was especially good, great atmosphere, although the cheers when Everton scored were from brits I think.
Epic race today, riders so shattered by the finish that the final sprint won by the Dane Pedersen was barely that. A real war of attrition. Think G Thomas, Sagan, Valverde and the rest just looked that they wanted to be anywhere but in Yorkshire today, and probably can’t wait for the season to end. Just one more Monument left in October now, then the season really is over.

Great performance from Thomas there - only 1 second off on a descending course in treacherous conditions.
Good chance of a British winner this year with Thomas and Yates.

This course is available to ride on Zwift. Great fun and a few little stingers in there.
