The Pro Road Cycling Thread

Agreed yep, intense is the word. Was reading earlier about the Jumbo documentary where Rog and Dumoulin were questioning Pog - I’d guess relations between the two Slovenians are that great!

Is Alaphillipe a better time trialler than Pog or Rog? If he is, bearing mind there’s only is it 3 mountain summit finishes, maybe he might have some kind of a chance?? Wiggo saying he might do anyway.

Interested to know more about that. Can see why Rog will obsess about Pog. Started already today, with Rog refusing to pull to chase down Ala. Pog got a bit of a free ride last year and JV know that.

As for Ala, whilst some climbing stages finish following a descent, they are off alpine climbs. Next Sunday finishes with a Cat 1 20km climb. With three cat 1 climbs the previous day.

Yeah, I haven’t seen the doco myself - didn’t even know one had been made - but was referenced in David Walsh tour article in Times this morning- was broadcast back on 27 Dec last year apparently- will dig it out later & quote from it cos Times online is paywall

Final will be interesting today, in that they climb the Mur twice but there are bonifications for the first time they go up too.

It's great to see such big crowds again but have all the covid restrictions been lifted in France now ?
Podcast last night saying basically they back to normal in most ways now; certainly masks not needed by the looks of it.
yes, riders seem to be getting nervous - just come back to watching today’s stage again now - has there been another crash involving the crowd? Saw a rider looking a bit cut up

No all good today. Think that rider slipped off going downhill hill in the rain shower
