Thanks for the link.

He already had a lot of admirers for his riding capabilities, but I think Phinney won himself plenty more fans with this display of heart.

All eyes on Milan-San Remo this weekend, can Cav do it?!

Shands,

Peter Sagan will probably rip the legs off Cav on the the Cipressa and the Poggio, I hope Cav has a dart but Sagan really is a monster, not the fastest of the sprinters but the best climber by far, Boasson Hagen and Goss to be in the mix as well.

I don't think you'll be far wrong with that prediction mate. Certainly the way Sagan has started the season it's hard to back anyone else. It seems whatever way the race plays out he has a strong card to play.

298km! Gonna be epic.

Do my own (much shorter) version Sunday morning; feet up in front of Eurosport in the afternoon :)

What bike have you got chester and what's the route you're doing tomorrow?

Sorry for the delayed reply mate. I ride a hybrid; don't have the finance or inclination for a racing bike tbh, and the flat roads of Cheshire with the odd bump suit it.

But what I really came on to say was, have u heard about milan San Remo today??!

Race stopped - driving snow and ice; some unbelievable pictures online of the riders.
All got back on the buses for an hour; gonna drive past the high point of the race and restart at 1.30 I think. There was a 7.10 breakaway at the time
Horrendous conditions.

Got it on a stream now. Never heard that before, breakaway left to ride, peloton on the bus! wtf!

Can't wait to check the photos out from today. There's some disheveled riders still out there! Some so called tough guys jacked it in. Chavanel's just gone.

Yeah, Thought Cav was in doubt for a mo, but commentary said it was a 'natural break' !

Learning a lot from today's race:

Just had to Google 'lawyer tabs'.

Eat solids every 20 mins. Cheese and ham rolls being most welcome.

Rainwear now aerodynamic!

Lots of talk about cold affecting thin riders with no body fat and hands being warmed by blowing into wet gloves. Got me thinking, why don't they wear Marigolds UNDERNEATH their racing gloves? Hands perfectly dry!

-- Sun Mar 17, 2013 3:59 pm --

Hang on..... he's not gone!

Crazy conditions today, credit to those who are carrying on. I most certainly wouldn't want to be riding in those conditions!

But would they be able to do it on a wednesday night in stoke?

-- Sun Mar 17, 2013 5:45 pm --

Brilliant ride by Stannard, the forgotten man of British cycling.

Tell us more. Stannard's a good lad. Is Downing in the race? He's a tough tough little feller.
