We actually have the easiest run in among top 6. Unfortunately our form is not good enough.
Still top 4 is within our grab unless a totally collapse happens

Latest Betfair top four odds are-
City 1/10
Liverpool 11/2
Southampton 14/1
Spurs 66/1

I think we are very likely to finish top four. We have earned 33 points from 15 home. Past performance obviously doesn’t relate to how those four future games will finish but I’d very surprised if we didn’t get at the very least 7-8 points. Even if we were to lose the two away games that would mean Liverpool need 14-15 points from a possible 21. They have to play Palace, QPR and Newcastle at home and Hull, West Brom, Chelsea and Stoke away from home. There is plenty of scope there for dropped points especially as they have the distraction and extra games of the FA cup.

Both the odds and your rationale are flawed I fear. For starters the dippers haven't lost to a team outside of the current top 3 in their last 32 matches, and 6 of their remaining 7 games are against teams lying 10th or lower. Even the real toughie away at Chelsea is likely to be reduced in difficulty by being a dead rubber by the time it gets played, such is Chelsea's lead at the top. Furthermore, and unlike City, they have the kind of fleet footed, dribblers (Sterling, Ibe, Sturridge) capable of pulling any parked bus apart. I fully expect them to win at least 5 of their remaining 7 fixtures, and quite possibly even 6.
By contrast I think we will need 11 points from our remaining 6 games (essentially 4 wins or 3 wins and 2 draws). With all the will in the world, such is the malaise in the camp and such is the incompetence of the manager (4 wins in 3 and a half months remember, and 2 of those against teams that committed suicide inside the 1st minute), that I seriously doubt we will win more than 2. It's that bad.

Re: The race for the Top 4

Pool 4 points, Soton 5 points behind.

Pellegrini's complete meltdown is their best bet of CL next season. Lets hope it doesnt happen.

Re: The race for the Top 4

Looking at the remaining fixtures of all teams going for top four, unless we have really lost the plot, still think we will finish second.

Re: The race for the Top 4

I'm looking for positives, we've won our last three home games with an agg score of 10-0.
We have four home games remaining, win them along with draws at both of the away games should get us 4th or even 3rd.

We just HAVE to win the next two.

Bring a few of the fringe players in because the first eleven haven't got a fucking clue at the minute. Most of them have given up completely.

Leave hairstyles out of this. We've enough primadonnas playing for us.

Re: The race for the Top 4

The next two home games are vital, especially with Liverpool's game at Hull being switched, due to their FA Cup Semi Final.

If we beat West ham and Villa, then realistically Liverpool would have to win at Chelsea, on the same day that we host QPR. Otherwise they would run out of games.

Also, if we do beat Villa and West Ham, then how many points will United collect at Chelsea and Everton?

In fact the only problem is that we've gone shite

That's quite a problem though

We just need to get our confidence back by pummelling West Ham and Villa in the next two games
