The Scottish Politics thread

Maybe or maybe not. The political landscape has shifted massively since the last vote.

Yup they are going to say that too, every fact or fictitious handle thrown by anyone involved. We were told that the shitstorm that was Brexit didn't stand a chance but look at us now.

Nationalism ehh? Whoda thunk it'd raise its ugly head time and again?

We just get the bill for it all ;-)
Do the Scots understand that post-Indy all the bills go to Edinburgh? And to play a full and active part in world affairs there's 195 ambassadors to the Court of St, Nicola. What's the chance of Magicpole being Scottish Ambassador to, say, the rump of the UK? He'd have to come down to London and kiss Bonnie Prince Charlie's arse! Or is he angling to buy Balmoral, and further live in the lap of luxury to which he has clearly become accustomed?

Once in a generation is apparently once every 8 yrs , until they get the vote they want.

That said its a rather pointless vote or pol or whatever it is, as it won't be validated or binding and therefore only those that want a yes are likely to vote in it. Likely result will be a yes vote. The UK government know this and therefore won't sanction it.

Hope the SNP spend their own money and not the UK taxpayers doing all the promotion etc. Fat chance.

Perhaps all of the UK should get a vote? Alternatively perhaps the UK should follow an EU government's path like the Spanish one and put Sturgeon on trial for sedition. The EU were OK with this remember.

Shame really, nationalist politicians just create division and hate. We could all do with less these days.
Life expectancy and other social parameters are so poor in some parts of Scotland that a generation is probably close to 8 years.

But rather than address this - which obviously the SNP has spectacularly failed to do so far - Sturgeon will spend the next 18 months on the referendum charade. It’s a product of the SNP’s weakness, not strength, and it won’t do anybody any favours in the meantime.

It doesn't matter how many times we choose to have a referendum.

What does matter it that we continue to vote in record numbers for parties who's primary mandate is independence from the union. That's their sole aim, and that's what the majority of Scots are voting for.

Looking South all I see is a Tory government we haven't voted for in over 70 years making the inequality divide far greater than its ever been in history. I can't fathom why anyone in their right mind can watch the poorest in society being squeezed into deciding between heating their homes or eating. That's the genuine reality for millions of people in this country.

Meanwhile oil and gas profits and banking elites revel in their record profits helped by Tory tax cuts. Instead of taxing these organisations and their stakeholders, this shit show of a government decide to PAY OUT £72m in rebates to Shell...

If your a Tory supporting this then your an absolute fucking thunder ****. No way around it.

Just a small correction…. the majority of Scot’s didn’t vote for the SNP… the majority (of Scot’s who voted) voted for something other than the SNP.
