She'd be genuinely great for the whole UK. If you listen to her speaking in the commons she will do a brilliant job of holding the mirror of accountability up to the current govt. While I'm sure she's committed to independence, I also get the impression her focus is on improving lives and the distribution of wealth rather than a fixation on destroying the UK.

She tells it as many of us would if we had a voice. That is to be commended. The fact that there was nobody on the opposite bench listening to her also tells us something.

As an Englishman who has lived and worked in Scotland for the last 11 years I will agree that we have many aspects of daily life up here that are appealing, in many ways better and down to SNP devolved policy. To suggest all is rosy in the garden though is too much of a stretch and simply not true, nor is it true to claim life here is better than everywhere else in the UK because again, it’s not.

Social, economic and health inequalities are still very much a thing up here and whilst I will applaud SNP success where it is due, I will also say those issues that we still have are a SNP failure.

There is truth in what you say but the Scottish Government operate within parameters set for them by Westminster. They don't have all the levers albeit I believe that they could use those that they have smarter than they do. There is much to admire in their social improvements whilst being disappointed in their track record on education which I believe is their greatest issue. Drug deaths are a national disgrace and don't get me started on the ferry debacle. But despite that I think the positives outweigh the negatives and certainly outweigh Labour's vacuum and Tory toxicity by miles and miles. It remains to be seen who will emerge as leader. I'm glad Swinney ruled himself out. I don't think much of his track record and I don't think he has the leadership or the intellect to take the party forward. `Kate Forbes seems to be emerging as a front runner. That will provoke the 'woke' wing of the party as she has some pretty fundamental christian beliefs and is not afraid to state them. Whoever it is needs to stitch the party together as I see fractures everywhere and to deliver independence they need what some have been complaining about - a strong determined leader who demands discipline in the ranks. I think independence is stymied for now. Not because the Scottish People don't want it but because there is no legal path to obtaining it and the SNP lacks the broad base of competence and leadership required to deliver it.

I’m not Scottish but I watched Neil Oliver with his interesting coast programme he’s not keen on Nicola he thinks she’s done a lot of damage to Scotland.

She's also a full on socialist. As such a rare voice in our parliament now Starmer has ' cleaned up' labour. I think she is a socialist first separatist second.
