I agree, I'm 60 now and this will be our last pet if we get it as I do think what would happen if we pop our clogs
I'm moving onto fruit flies for a pet the closer to the ground I am getting.

Cats are either tree dwelling or Bush dwelling, obviously your Merlin is the former ours was a Bush dweller and spent no time at all climbing trees whereas our first maine coon was up every tree and roof available and spent his entire time outside chasing birds the little buggerMerlin spends very little time on the floor

See how you feel when your eldest one dies.We have decided that the 2 we have now will be our last, the young one is only 3 and the older one is about 14, we have agreed that it would cause too much stress if we coughed it whilst our wards are still with us.
