The south stand

I am undecided on whether the away fans should or not be in South Stand.

I am in Level 2 but my opinion was that because there were no away fans behind the goal it dented the atmosphere.

Villareal brought no fans so maybe we try it againt Bayern and if it works then make it permanent for next season.

I am also confused about the "toss" and how we play towards the South Stand in the first half of every game.

If the South Stand becomes total CITY, then I think we should try and play towards the Soth Stand in the 2nd half.

Do we win the toss every week and decide to play this way round????

Can anyone let me know what games we have played the other way round.

From 109 it sounded much better than normal, as for a change we could hear the south stand so when songs started there the Kippax Corner joined in and vice versa.

Strangely I didn't miss the away fans. The final minute of that game will live with me, as a fan, forever.

my first time in the south stand, I was in 114 with my dad and took my "joe royles blue and white army" scarf for shits and giggles.

we arrived late due to some TW@ having spilng oil somewhere so traffic was horrible.
ran to the ground and the atmosphere was 300 times better than other places i have sat such as north level 1, and east level 3 and 2.

first half was good in terms of support. after half time was very quiet apart from some of the corner guys ribbing us with "fuck of back to the third tier" and funny shit like that. but i think the stale second half atmos was probably down to supporter nerves. my heart was banging in my chest and i felt sick in my stomach like i do at most city matches. (reading quarter final comes to mind) so i joined in the songs that people were trying to get going but i was a bit distracted as i was shitting my pants.

People started to leave at 80 mins and this pisses me off, as being lucky enough to be at wembley in 99 as a 10 year old i know how important it is to stay to the end of every match.

And then Sergio's goal was mental. nearly fell over the chair in front and was grabbing fellow blues and going generally mental. brilliant end to a shit match.

In short.

Southstand singing section needs time for the singing ringleaders to make their way to the middle of the end, so the "south" and "kippax" guys to join forces in the middle in 113-114 to start the chants and songs for the rest of the end to get involved in. i think it could work brilliantly. and we can still rib away fans in the 3rd tier. its not that far away.

Come on CITEH!

Everyone seems to be more subdued at the start of the second half becasue everyone is full on pies and beer. So if we kick towards the south stand in the second half i think it would improve the atmos immensely

IMO and I sit in SS second tier, the reason the SS and East stand corner create so much of the atmosphere is because we are positioned next to the away fans and it's because of the banter.

For games where the club know away fans will be limited then by all means move them to The third tier but not for games against clubs with decent followings.

Well i think we all knew that would fall on its arse,1 big south stand dont me me fuckin laugh, wernt the best of atmospheres before this trial but fuck me what a disaster!

I relocated to the south stand last night and fuck me there is so many spoilt moaning wankers in there. I think every single city player got slated last night what a joke.

Also read a few people in this thread saying "as usual 111 making all the noise" "kippax loud as usual"

As a neutral I can honestly say I couldnt hear you from 117 so you cant have been that loud.

Moved from 234 down to 113.

I like sitting up in 234 for the home games, I've got a great view and although there's no singing I can make comments on the match and discuss what's happening with my brother. Then we get the chance to sing, chant, dance and go mental at away games.

However, we thought we'd give the south stand ago last night. I was disappointed with the south-east corner to be honest. I don't know if the "usual" south-standers, from 116 round were the same, but the south-east corner seemed to take it upon themselves to make sure we knew they were hardcore fans who sat there every week. The first song of "you've had your day out, now fuck off home" was amusing but by the time we got the the 3rd renditions of "where were you when we were shit" and "fuck off back to 3rd tier" it was getting pretty tiresome.

I can see why so many people want the away fans to stay where they are, some fans seem reliant on the banter to create an atmosphere, which is again disappointing. There was an opportunity last night to create a brilliant atmosphere, it's a shame some people weren't up for it.
