The south stand

It was loud around and about 117, obviously the early goal didn't help but it was still better than usual. Plenty of tools about though.

Also, in 117 there were about 3 people to 1 seat!!

I must have been at a different game. Those in what is the usual away end barely sang. It was the Kippax as usual that sang.

I am starting to fall out of love with going to football. I don't want to go back to the bad old days of hooliganism, but the banter with away fans is one of the main things at a match. Instead we are getting health and safety crazy with incidents such as the one against Villa. We are trying to create an atmosphere by putting pieces of paper on the chair for you to lift up. The fans should create an atmosphere.

Whilst I understand that the Blue alliance are trying to make the equivalent of what Poznan etc did, but the whole point is that English people are not able to release in that way. The Poznan is actually quite cringeworthy and nowhere near as good as it is on the continent....that could be due to the design of the stadium as it doesn't leave people at the right angle to do it.

We are being priced out of football and being made to watch an entertainment show, just like American Football. We will probably have advert breaks at each corner soon.......

Nice to see I was right with this one. It went tits up against Wigan years ago and tits up again last night.

Atmosphere is where the away fans are, end of

It was an experiment that I dare say will never be repeated.

The South Stand were absolutely appalling in their support and it was left for the usual suspects in 111 to make the noise.

Then there was the knock-on chaos from the relocation of the Villarreal 17 meaning that the entire spiral entrance in G/J was closed. This resulted in two sets of turnstiles customers being relocated to one and hundreds missing the first ten minutes of the game

Half a dozen texts I got about placards and what not from the club and not one told me my turnstile would be shut.

Then we had the toilets also cordoned off to accommodate 17 people and a huge crush in the next ones further on.

We weren't playing Napoli here. There was just no need for it all.

Piss poor organisation all round from the old bill and stewards and the whole thing ended up a damp squib.

think for games like last night ( low number of opposition fans) it has to be the way forward really. still think on big european night with alot of away support, their fans help enhance the atmosphere eg. aris, poznan, napoli

Some of us want to support the team not take the piss out of an away fan wearing pink, I don't get this attitude that the atmosphere has to be next to the away fans, fans of other teams don't seem to have this problem?
Give this a season and I don't think too many will be leaving the south stand/110/111 to sit next to the away fans in the third tier, in fact it will encourage our fans in the third tier to sing more thus provide a huge increase in volume from our fans right around the stadium.

I agree with supporting the team, but it is the truth where was the atmosphere at Maine Rd and where is the atmosphere now? Next to the away fans it's not rocket science.

In theory too it's new fans that will fill the gap of the away fans so like last night it will be between the usual south standers and 110 etc we may aswel have away fans between them because the fans inbetween didn't create much atmosphere

correct. Unless south stand move across or we move 110 it will never work. Away fans there work although it looks shit on the cameras. Maybe move south stand across and stick away fans in 119?

I thought it went ok last night. It's not the proximity to the away fans that has the biggest impact on the atmosphere it's how the team are playing. I think if we'd have got the winner on 70 mins last night we would be talking about the place being rocking and this initiative being a success.

However, I feel it has got legs and the more we do it the better it'll become. The atmosphere in the East stand in the first few years at COMS was relatively non-existent. But now the singing section almost rivals the South Stand.

If it's done on a consistent basis it will be a success.

The crowd went quiet because we were poor.

But I thought it felt great for us to have one end. The ground felt balanced somehow.
