The south stand

Perhaps the away fans being there is what generates the atmosphere and banter?

There were times where we weren't singing and there was a real lull in the atmosphere and we could literally hear Hart shouting up in the third tier.

A non crucial group game against low profile opposition was never gonna generate a rip roaring atmosphere but it was better than would normally be the case.

It's psychologically much tougher for opposing teams to have all four sides of the ground at pitch level occupied by City fans.

Banish away fans to level 3

non-crucial YCMIU fucking jesus wept.

unbelievable Jeff

This trial has to be continued, the south stand looked fantastic and will be a cauldron for big games, I urge every fan who gets an online survey to recommend we continue to have ALL blues in the south stand, this our chance now to have a proper end.

More interested in throwing paper about like kids than supporting the team. It was good at the start and end though.

It was full of dick head kids launching paper at everyone in the south stand...

Think the idea of away fans in the gods is great, just a shame Villareal scored so early which did dampen the atmosphere.

The South (fucking poor name!) Stand looked SUPERB last night. Well done to all the guys in the new bit last night (113-115), you were okay-to-pretty good. You made the most noise in the ground and your banners were great - I loved the Factory Records one!

Shame on you lot in the usual "vocal" areas. Yet again you were appalling! The normal Maine Road Main Stand-esque, boring as fuck, East Stand were louder than you last night.

But I wouldn't like to see the away fans put back. It looked top and it should grow and grow and grow. Eventually it would work. Judging whether we'd do it again or whether we'd fuck it off after just one game shouldn't happen, we should test this out a few times and see where we go from there.

If we do it again we should come up with an unofficial name for the stand. At least then there might be a song to sing for the usual lot. Going back to Billy Meredith; something like 'The Mezzer End'. Anything really is better than 'The South Stand'. It's so fucking bland, I always smirk when I hear "we are the South Stand" as if to say 'so what lads?' and any chants of "you're not famous anymore" to the East Stand is daft because the South Stand has never and will never be famous!

[I'm not a East/South corner (109-111) fan neither so it's nowt to do with that rivalry!]

Plus it was dead easy getting back to the car on the way out as I didn't have to walk via Spain to walk around the away fans and the police barriers! :)

Atmosphere was good to start with, but as people have mentioned their early goal didn't help. Went really quiet at one point, and I don't think we'll ever see the paper sheets again! We need a couple of loud loons spread out the stand to start everyone chanting, and people who don't plan on singing should go to the family stand. And I'm sick of seeing people with cameras taking pictures every 30 seconds ffs!!!!!

Looked good from where I sat. Not the noisiest of nights but largely due to their early goal and the frustraing nature of the match. I'm sure it would have been far worse under the normal set up.

They probably also need to explain to Vinny that it works better when the team play towards the singing end in the second half.
