The Squad planning thread

All this because we refused to outbid arsenal for Rice and offer the lad enough wages to realise there’s more to life than London.

We’ll make winning as much as we have harder in future if we don’t become more ruthless in the transfer market again. Even going as far back as refusing to take no for an answer from Everton over Lescott, taking Tevez from the scum, Sterling from scousers, Walker from Spurs, and buying Aguero, Yaya and David Silva, those are the standards we have set ourselves and the level we should be aiming at again. Not giving one shit about what the media write about us or about the colluding redshirt cartel. Fuck ‘em all.

We need to spend and bully our way back to the top.

Everyone of those players wanted to come

Last night Liverpool did OK with Jones, Gravenbach and Mac Alister.

Hardly Rikjaard, Gullit and Savicevic.

I don’t get why those cunts keep getting wins when looking at their team we’d only take van Dijk and Salah and maybe Alex-Arnold over anyone we have.

Speaking of Milan.

In 93 they had quite a squad
Baresi, Costacurta, Maldini, Desailly, Panucci,
Albertini, Rikjaard, Gullit, Boban, Savicevic, de Napoli, Donadoni, Papín, Van Basten and Raducioi

They are currently being managed better than us, is my point. I'm not saying that Slot is a better manager than Pep, he isn't. But currently he's in better form.

Who can go in the summer, Walker, Stones, Bernardo, Gundo, Kev?. We have to build again without these legends, either past their sell by date, want to leave or too injury prone. Need younger hungrier players in but it could take a few windows to accomplish it

Out in the summer: Gundo, KDB, Grealish, Walker, - all are finished at the top level - leave with our sincere thanks and amazing memories

Potentially sell as well: Stones (too injury prone) - Bernardo(?)

Questions over: Rico Lewis, McAtee - do they fit into this squad in the future....Pep loves Rico but will another manager in the future have a use for him? Where does he fit as he is an average right back and not good enough to play central midfield.

In: Wirtz - priority number one as KDB's replacement.
Priority 2 - a right back
Then at least one DM (depending on what we do in January - maybe two.
A second striker to give Haaland a break - he cannt keep playing the number of games he is or he will be the next long term injury issue.
A wide player to compete with Doku on the left and a wide right player to compete with Savihno
A centre half to replace Stones if he cant stay fit

We also have to assess Echervari quickly (he arrives January but I doubt he is going to be making many first team appearances before next year) - is he going to be good enough for the prem league...is he too light weight or will he have the physicality to compete?

Looks not too bad, surprised JWE stayed
Bumping this to help us look at the squad for the rest of the season.

Echeverri, Reis and Khusanov all go into the B-list for Premier League (as is Savinho). If we continue in CL and we want them in the squad then they need to be registered. Marmoush goes into the Free (A) List for CL & PL. If Walker leaves that frees up a HG space for CL, and two HG places for PL.

So just 14/17 Free List places used for PL - unlikely to fill all those spaces.

Should Walker leave, Grealish would take up his HG-AT place and a Non-HG place would free up.

KDB, Bernardo, Kovacic, Lewis, Gundo out. That would be a very good start for summer.

Buy back James Trafford, get Doyle into the squad. Need 3 midfielders and a right back, unless we make that Akanji’s designated position.

Wirtz or Palmer would be brilliant but can’t see it happening.

Sad to see just a injury to Rodri has let the team fall like a stacks of card. Such a squad of talent has not been good enough.

Runs deeper than that I fear, but his absence is a major factor no doubt. I think a clean sweep with a clean broom is needed with large portions of this squad.
