The Squad planning thread

Tolm saying Forest are interested in Nunes or McAtee. Send em Nunes, Sell Macca to another taker. Get one of Livra/Vanderson & Wesley/Hilali.

We can’t sweep out everyone (contracts) but if Reijnders and Gibbs-White sign, it will be the first time that we have had the midfielders to allow us to play the ‘basketball’ style we saw at the start of last season.

Yes I agree we can’t get rid of everyone and that is my concern which I discussed in my first post.

Pep not happy with the squad size, a number of players just signed, others unlikely to get the same pay elsewhere. It’s going to be hard to bring the players in to make us competitive and also realise Pep’s wish for a smaller squad.

That's what the loan system is there for - but for some we might even struggle there

They had ample warning of what losing Rodri would have meant. He went down holding his knee in the CWC and every City breathed a sigh of relief when he got back up, we also lost every game he missed last season. Yet they did nothing. Other than bringing a random winger from Girona. Continued with an ever increasingly injured KDB, Walker who at that point was entering his 3rd year of decline. Bernie, Gundo and Kovacic all in there 30s. Majorly injury prone defenders and just one striker. It was shambolic to say the least.

Such a shambolic club, no wonder the media beat them to death, and the pundits destroy them.

Thank you sir - as usual.
So we have plenty of wiggle room in terms of numbers - but suspect we'd be looking at covering quite a bit wage wise in most cases.
We've left ourselves in this "position", so an interesting summer ahead as we all know!!
yeah, we have wiggle for alsorts, squad could go lots of ways from here.

Even fantasy booking, you find rabbit holes to go down and get things done.

To improve on 24/25 season

Purchase
Reijnders
MGW
2 x top quality FB
Add 1 maybe 2 keepers, ideally sign Eddie 1 more year, sell Ortega and bring in Garcia, as No2 to learn and take over Eddie 26/27,
Already have established
Khusanov
Marmoush
Nico G
Suddenly have Rodri, Bobb & Phil back to 25 G&A.
Have a defence that isn't on the treatment table,
most of the season Walker fell off a cliff, Dias, Stones, Ake and Akanji were injured or even worse playing with injuries.

Don't have to rely on Unc's

This looks like what management intend to do.

I’d personally like to see a return to 3 centre backs like the treble season.
Kushinov - Diaz - Gvardiol
Nico G - Rodri - Rjienders
—————-Foden ——————
Savinho—Earling—Williams

I don't really remember it is a back 3, more a back 4 with 4 Cbs at times (when Walker wasn't available). Akanji, Stones, Dias, Ake.

As Stones often pushed into midfield, it could appear that way though.

According to pep yesterday, there's no chance of is getting through the 5 or 6 signings needed, and the ones we are linked with don't inspire.

This rebuild will be a few years in the making and that's if they finally have a good window.
