The Squad planning thread

Very happy with business conducted so far think add a goalkeeper and right back that'll be a successful summer. Think we can replace Gundo/Kova next year with likes of MGW and Bernardo when his contract ends....like the look of Francisco Trincao at Sporting he'd be a good fit.

I think it will be the lad from Porto.

With him being 19, he can go on the under 21 list and doesn't have to be registered as a foreign player.

City are not going to spend upwards of £80m on Livramento.
He would need to be registered as a foreign player if we wanted him to play in the Champions league, which we will.

Has there even been mention in the media about us signing a right back? Does Pep realise that we don't have one apart from Rico...who he plays in midfield, on the occasions he actually plays him.

They should go this year otherwise Pep will use them over the new players. The club will help with this by selling or paying up player contracts

I reckon Gibbs white and Livramento will be watching our business and wanting to join now
Puts pressure on them to show they want to come
Getting these three done early addresses a lot of issues and leaves time for the not so easy deals
Still see Costa, Livramento and Gibbs white coming in
Also I wonder if a market opportunity like rodrygo gets done later on after we sell a few

Especially with the fees we're paying for the first three, we still have plenty left in the chest before we've even sold anyone yet. Hope we prioritize Livramento because I'm not very confident in Nunes/Rico/Akanji as right back options. With Reijnders and Cherki in I definitely think there's a role for MGW, but that's going to hurt Gonzalez and O'Reilly more than anyone.

unless there are some very unexpected departures from our A list. CL squad now looking like -

Ederson;
Manuel Akanji, Rúben Dias, Joško Gvardiol, Rayan Aït-Nouri;

Phil Foden, Rodri, Tijjani Reijnders;
Oscar Marmoush, Erling Haaland, Rayan Cherki:

Stefan Ortega,

Rico Lewis, John Stones, Nathan Aké, Nico O'Reilly;
Matheus Nunes, Nico Gonzáles, İlkay Gündoğan;
Bernardo Silva,
Oscar Bobb, Jérémy Doku.

+ Mateo Kovačić (when fit) & Keepers
Who's Oscar Marmoush? ;) That said, I dont expect Gundogan and Bernie to both make it. At a minimum, one should be out.

A homegrown Right back also makes Nunes expendable.

Ortega should also be replaced with a Homegrown talent if possible.

Khusanov and Savihno will be part of the 17. Potential cuts thus include Gundogan, Bernie, Ortega, Nunes, Kovacic and Akanji

Guaranteed foreign backups are: Gonzalez, Savihno, Doku, and Khusanov Add that to 9 of your 10 listed foreign starters. That's 13.

Leaving 4 spots for the following,,:
Gundo, Bernie, Akanji, Kovacic, Nunes, Reis, Echemessi, Ortega.

Nunes and Ortega will make the team if Homegrown replacements cant be found for them and they'll both be gone if the inverse happens... So we have between 2 to 4 spots available for 6 to 8 players.

I think Nico G will surprise a lot of people
In a good functioning team I think he will be class
Same for Nico o Reilly if he gets some chances

I'm not really concerned about Nico G's ability, just game time. A lot of new faces and Rodri returning could be an issue for him a few months into the season, but I think he'll be huge for us in the opening weeks to give Rodri time to ease in.

McAtee anounced as Englandcaptain for tge U21 Euros, if the plann is to sell him rhenn surely this will push his price up slightly.

Shame really but seems inevitable
