The Squad planning thread

So are you saying Anderson will run more than Bernardo or not ?

We could do with someone more imposing that Bernardo that could be most players but Anderson doesn’t seem like the sort of player that has the same style playing in the middle and out wide dribbling with the ball tight control good pass.

Difficult to replicate the winger/midfield engine hybrid that Bernardo is, but Anderson would certainly give us the latter. He would give us much more of a physical edge than Bernardo does though, as well as running power and passing ability. He’s our best option for sure.

He will do more with his running, and gives us a much better chance of winnig midfield battles. He has very good passing. We have 3 players behind Haaland that should be given the licence to dribble while Anderson will service Rodri/Nico2x greatly by actually having the physicality to run a modern midfield and being brave on the ball actually feeding the front 4
Will do more with his running ? How I am sure he isn’t as intelligent as Bernardo. You haven’t actually said Anderson will cover more distance with his running

I have said numerous times already that he is more capable at actually imposing himself on the opposition which means actually winning duels in the middle, winning posession both deeper and higher up the pitch. Things Bernardo rarely does effectively anymore despite knowing where he should be. With that in mind I think you can figure out what I mean with "do more with his running". Add to that he has has anatural instinct of moving the ball forward after winning it with line breaking passes which is something Bernardo lost when he tranfsormed into the perfect control player from 2020 to 2023. Which is only fair, but someone with the ability and performances of Anderson will give us more as a team now than Bernardo, without a shadow of a doubt. Despite Pep loving Bernardo, and his element of technical control everywhere on the pitch still sometimes enhancing our performances it just as often makes us disjointed because he doesnt have the physicality or creativity to be that kind of player anymore, not when more creative players in front of him demand a more physical role from him

If we control the midfield we control the game as our defence looks like it could be fucking amazing in years to come with khush reiss bah josko and gueh .

I wonder if Josh Acheampong being available we may pivot to him as the right back option. We were linked a while ago that the club liked him

Reijnders was awesome in Serie A too.. infact the midfielder of the year.

Be careful when comparing across leagues.. the EPL is a different beast all together.

Back four next season - Porro, Khusanov, Gvardiol, Hall.
Porro???
If Spurs had someone in midfield who could actually play, Archie Gray would be their right back.
Porro is genuinely dreadful.
Normally I'd say he's a weak link, but he's not. He's just as bad as the others.

Playing in an awful league where his team relies on him to be the main threat. Mctominay probably has a similar web in that league. After Reijnders, I'm wary of anyone that hasn't performed in Europe, and I'm not fully convinced by Semenyo either yet.

Just saw a tweet De Bruyne having x amount of assist for Genk in 2010-11 at 18. Now Genk has another young prospect called Karetsas who at 18 has delivered more assist than that version of De Bruyne so far.

Also that Nathan De Cat, 17 year old tall midfielder from Anderlecht is someone we should be looking at.

I really liked that Bah/Reis/Khusanov window where we went a long way of fixing our cb issues for the future by snapping up young talent before they get too expensive.
Maybe we could something similiar for our midfield/creativity next season? Alongside Anderson bringing in De Cat, Kees Smit, Karetsas and one of Nusa/Diomande from Leipzig.

Smit and Nusa would be perfect imo but wouldnt be upset if Diomande rocked up!
