Zuri, whats that, the new name for the Bamboo or a rival ?
I'm obviously out of touch!
'The north face' of the grove was always a challenging mission, but a satisfying one to finish (is it 10 pubs in half a mile or something?)

Opposite the Rising Sun, an older crowd than the Bamboo and the majority oif them think they are something special and/or something they are not.

I think it is now 11 pubs/bars from the Rising Sun to the Phoenix (George & Dragon), a lot of pubs have shut down but a few smaller bars plus Spoons now.

Ok, cheers, I know where u mean.
Got some mixed memories of the bamboo, to put it mildly ;)
Used to hammer the Bulls head a fair bit too

Last time I drove down the A6 I thought they obviously aren't big on cooking in the grove; more take-away's in that stretch than anywhere I've ever seen.

I think Zuri is where the Rawalpindi used to be, went to a 50th there earlier this year, not too bad as it was a private do.
As for the Bamboo, enshrined in the history of the Grove, thanks due to the Beeley family.

Bulls Head, did you use it when the dutch fella, Henny(?), had it? What about the Bees Knees, your era? Now that was a mad house.
Grew up in the Grove and have many memories of when there were 14 pubs between the Fiveways & the George & Dragon, mayhem on a Friday night.

I'm on a train to Manchester tomorrow morning so I have an excuse to stay in. It's little more than cans and a takeaway (probably a Ruby Murray) for me.

Nah, think that's before me, was a couple that had the Bull when I started going in (Andy & ?? I think), they had it a fair few years then been new management quite regular since.

Bees Knees? Not a clue, haha.

Was originally the Red Lion, now Macdonalds.

You can see Norbury Church in the background to help get your bearings, picture taken from somewhere near Browns.

and no I didn't frequent it at the time the photo was taken, although I am old.

Am thinking about tagging along with someone who has fireworks, in order to test-fire an emergency flare. Otherwise, no plans. Turn off the mobile early enough to escape all the messages that people just have to send, regardless of the fact that you've just spoken to them. Will probably end up spending the whole evening on here. Why change the habit of a lifetime?!

On occasion I work in Bar One, directly opposite McDonalds.

I don't even have vague memories of it being a pub, fuck you're old.
