This was do or die for a few clubs. Barca, United and Liverpool just three. There is going to be absolute shit storms there now.
If City had not joined, wouldn't this have happened anyway? Are we getting carried away or have we actually pulled off the greatest Trojan horse of all time? Are we just trying to fill in the gaps with something that makes us come across better and more strategic, or is this actually what happened? If we only got invited late, it doesn’t strike me that we’d have had the time to concoct such a strategy? We probably cocked up and have now tried to make the best of the situation.
They tried to destroy the fabric of English football and did it in an underhanded way. No consultation, no presentation, nothing. We got a standard statement on the club's website in the dead of night quoting our rivals' owner. Nothing on Twitter because they knew it would create a storm. They didn't want to celebrate it because they knew it was unpopular, but they nevertheless pressed on with it.
If you were happy to join then are you not pissed off we've withdrawn? Or do you just let people you're in awe of abuse your good will?
Exactly what happened, although it does seem to have worked out nicely and I’m glad they saw sense in the end (with a helping hand from us fans making them aware of what a fucking ridiculous decision they’ve made).Sorry but I just do not buy this being a 4D chess manoeuvre from our owners being 50 steps ahead of everyone else.
They panic joined over fear of being left in the dust and then pulled out once they realised the backlash and the whole project not being tenable. Don't go giving them credit for being some genius strategist for a stupid decision they made and backed out on.
