This is EXACTLY what the owners want ffs. They want players to become commodities, turn clubs into franchises, play when required. It would actually suit ESL smh

On the other hand, I felt this is more directed towards the players. Every player wants to play for their countries, regardless what their club thinks. Not being able to play for their countries will make players think twice before joining with ESL clubs.

Doubt Sky or BT will be in favour of it. It would probably not be them with the rights to it unless hey shelled out a lot more than they are currently doing. The Super League may well already have a deal in place for broadcasting rights.
I think you may be onto something here, I'm sure Amazon Prime and the like think it will take off. Bunch of greedy yanks trying to polish a turd.

I've just watched that Kaveh guy on Sky Sports say that an owner of one of the 6 PL clubs would be happy to leave the PL if they were asked to because of the riches on offer.

Makes me sick. Surely competition is the main driver for any club and this bullshit Super League is void of that, it's a glorified Audi Cup where nobody cares if you win it or not.

It's hollow, the whole point of football is celebration and an aim to win something at the end of a gruelling season/campaign in a cup competition rather than a bunch of friendlies - catered to kids or audiences who want to purely see the best players - where the only real reward is money. No prestige, no pride, no history, nothing. I'd find it hard to believe that any player would gear themselves up to play in it.

Imagine their only competitive action was this and the Euros/Copa/AFCON/World Cup. It's wasting their careers away so people higher up can get some money in their pockets.

The club hiding behind the line of 'we couldn't afford to be left behind' is a slap in the face too. Being backed into a corner by the same clubs who have been out to get us for 12 years, fighting them in the stands, behind the scenes, press conferences, on the pitch only to back down. Fuck off.

It's the death of the game as we know it.

I don't agree. Whilst they are the owners, they are also custodians and have to protect the long-term interests of the club?

You and me will be long gone one day, there are no kids to take our place, as the song states.

The way people consume life is changing quicker than I ever thought possible. Globalisation is happening across all society and will continue to do so.

It was sad that so many people lost their jobs at Debenhams, but the likes of Amazon have come along and have driven them to the wall, doing it quicker and better than the High Street.

I'm 46, so have seen how City have changed during my lifetime, the club as we once knew it died a long time ago.

I like this version better than the one I grew up with, it was shit, barring the banter with my mates and the dreams of City one day winning everything in sight.

As I say, people are entitled to their own viewpoint, but the club will know why the dots have to join up.

There is a massive echo chamber at present, fulled by SKY and Uefa, social media, all with their own agendas.

My agenda will always be City being at the top.
Agree with this. I don't see what choice city had to be honest. We obviously haven't done this for the money like skint clubs like Barcalona and Manure have. We've done it to be not left behind. Does anyone who is feeling sorry for West Ham/Everton/Wolves or even Rochdale or Burton etc really believe they wouldn't have accepted the offer to them if it was there?
I don't want this at all, and probably wont go to SuperLg games. But the City team and the game I loved has long since departed. This is just the next step.
I see City nowerdays the way I see my poor old mum. She has dementia and alzheimers. I love her and will go and see her but she's not really my mum anymore. I feel exactly the same about City

Lets be honest, players don't try half as hard for their country as they are not paid. I doubt this will cause the mass exodus people are anticipating.

unreal that their was zero fan consultation on this.
They don't give a fuck about us anymore.

I’ll look forward to the Manchester Derby held in Boston

Thats going to be a woman to get the last train back on a Sunday evening.

I can understand a generic statement being posted by all the relevant clubs, but that shouldn’t preclude a statement of our own from being provided to the fans. That will doubtless follow, but I still think it’s been handled poorly by the club.

In particular, to have a statement from Joel Glazer explaining why we a pushing for a historic and unprecedented change to our format, but nothing from our own leadership, is not acceptable in my book. Should we just assume that Khaldoon is happy to be a junior partner in the new league, or does he actually want to explain why it’s the best move for Manchester City Football Club?

I'm sure the clubs involved have agreed a media strategy.

KAM may not be pleased, I wouldn't know, but I'm sure he thinks it's in the club's best interests.

Are City a Junior partner or do all the founders get one vote each on any important decisions?

I feel that strongly about this.

That i would be happy for our owners to sell up and fuck off, go and find another Club. I am really upset, we have become what we so despise a Rag clone Club,

And before anyone says don't be ridiculous, how would we ever survive.

We have been around for 125 years. Sure we have been up and down more than a hookers knickers' will give you that.

But all through that time we have had a very solid fan base. A local. Working class club, with a feeling of togetherness as fans, a feeling of us against the World. All together for one love City.

Make no mistake our owners singled us out for buying because of that solid support base. We have always been a top 6 Club.

Dont get me wrong i was happy we were bought. A sleeping Giant was awakened. But let us not forget our owners got as much out of this relationship as us, they got all the publicity they were after. We got the success we badly desired, and deserved.

I didn't like looking around the ground seeing tourists with Cameras that came with that success ,with no affinity to City, but accepted it was a price we had to pay. it grated on me that friends i religiously went to the game with were priced out of watching a team they loved though.

This to me right now though is going way too far, our owners are taking the Piss. Manchester City is our football Club, they had no fucking right to use our Club like this without consulting fans groups first. They are nothing more than short term custodians of our great football Club. You don't get to do what ever the fuck you want with it. Shitting all over our working class heritage, then using quotes from the Glaziers on the City Website...i mean really wtf is that about ? Sure market the brand, with your own. No one has a problem with that.

To make such a fundamentally important decision without consulting fans is beyond words. I am not surprised fans from all 6 Clubs are apoplectic with rage.
Well fucking said buddy.
