The fact the club ignored fan opinion and jumped into bed with the Glazers etc, after their repeated attacks on us, will leave a sour taste in the mouths of most Blues, unquestionably. The best PR would have been to stand on our morals, on our history, on our status as a club of the people and not of billionaire cartels, and tell pompous twats Perez et al to get fucked.

That opportunity is gone and a lot of good will with it too - but it's not the end. If City back away, before the government pushes them, apologise and promise to involve fans more in the future, it could be a second best scenario for PR.

It needs to be fast though. Our manager and lads are out there fighting for the badge in competitions we could get thrown out of. The window of opportunity for a turn around is rapidly closing.
Great post but 'coulda. woulda, shoulda' . Too late for our owners to row back from this. An absolute PR disaster for our club and the bitter taste it will leave in the mouths of Blues will last a long time. I don't know where this is going, there's certainly enough resistance from Governments , UEFA and fans etc to kill it off or make it meaningless . The Superleague 12 are in danger of being left out in the cold

There is a lot of hypocrisy going on over this.

Liverpool protesting, why were they not protesting when they qualified for the CL by the back door and won it. That was the start of devaluing the competition for me, when champions and others qualified.

If anyone is too feel aggrieved its Forest and Villa, they have won the EC, we havent, Spurs, Arsenal havent.

Where was the fans moaning about the setting up of the PL. I dont recall mass protests about that.

And City fans, where were the mass protests against Thaksin...the lack of protest then lead to the Sheikh

The vast majority of rag cunts were happy with the yanks as long they were winning.

Gary Neville said fuck all as long as United were winning

Where were the Chelsea protests against Abramovich

How come that **** Johnson is suddenly interested in football fans, especially after the shit he wrote about Hillsborough

When have the tories been against capitalist exploitation.

The really sad thing about this is we have passed up a chance to fuck over the 'history clubs'. The dippers need a new squad, the rags have a stupid wage structure and probably also need a new squad, barca are skint and need a new squad, and Madrid want to buy another set of galacticos. Despite all thew wailing about us, it's the spending of these clowns that have 'ruined football' and they have got themselves into a position where they need the super league or something like it to allow them to carry on. We should be sticking every spanner we can in this to financially starve the cunts whlie our owners deep pockets allow us to comfortably sit it out.

I don’t watch boxing. And how is this different from UCL, Europa and Conference League - the new shiny UEFA league that starts from this year. 3 tiers of a European cup.
Neither do I.Not many people do because of the confusion having three versions of the same title causes !!The CL and Europa league are different competitions completely.Everyone understands the Europa league winners are not European champions. The winners of this joke of a new league would claim they are European champs when in fact some of the teams in it are not even good enough to qualify for the CL eg Arse and Spurs. There would be two separate bodies claiming to have the European champions.

The premier league is miles ahead of la liga and serie a.
No one wants to watch those leagues, they are boring and uncompetitive
All it is is the American owners bailing out the Spanish and Italians while lining their own pockets
Make no mistake, no premier league teams this super league dies in the spot

The reason there are 6 English teams in it, what must the divisions elsewhere in Europe be thinking like Holland, France, Portugal etc? They don’t matter and clubs that have competed in Europe for decades can’t compete against the best. If you were Everton’s owner would you even bother building a stadium now?

I can qualify for any of those if I play well enough. Can I qualify for the Super League -- the richest league, with closed circuit revenues, with the best teams -- after the Super League inevitably locks its doors?

Why would the PL be pointless?
Two scenarios. We stay in it, and one thing that'll happen is that the ESL replaces the domestic cup competitions. It'll take 23 games to win the ESL (and that's just on current plans) as opposed to the 13 needed to win the CL. So there's no chance that the teams in the ESL can play in the FA or League Cups.

The other is that it becomes meaningless. Think about how we were all gutted when Spurs beat us to ensure they, and not us, got top 4. Think about how excited/nervous West Ham or Leicester fans must be right now. All that goes out of the window and the PL becomes an irrelevance. Those games are the ones you've got to endure rather than enjoy, because bar a few games, they mean fuck all.

The other scenario however, and probably the more likely one, is that we can't play in both the PL & ESL.

And then Delap, Palmer, Doyle will go to play for super clubs, maybe even for the likes of rags and dippers, and your heart will be broken. Most players are loyal to money and global fame, not to fans, unless they are not good enough, that is.
If the Super League is failing they won't want to join it. There is only so many times even global fans can tune into the same meaningless fixture over and over with nothing to play for on their iPad surely?

The games will be terrible quality without competition, and there will be no way to build up to the fans to watch the 40th, 50th repeat of Arsenal and Inter playing out for a draw to remain in 14th and 15th in the super league for the second, third, fourth, fifth year running. What stale media content, even from a purely financial point of view that stinks.

It's just too much to take in such a short period of time.
The sport I've loved since childhood becomes less and less of a sport. VAR ruined much of it, the pandemic took away the one most important thing in football, - the fans, - and now this. The values and the spirit of the sport are gone.

Is the sport dying?
Your post has answered your own question, Everything you said I agree on apart from one thing, It's not dying, It's dead.
