As funny as it would have been for them to go out tonight, I think it would have helped them in the title race - especially as the next games are either side eof our game with them - so glad they went through.

City weren't good against Spurs or Everton(didn't get the usual bounce back because of the week off IMO) and there's been a few off games here and there before that but Liverpool have had those too. I still think the defending will have to sharpen up against higher quality opposition because City have been giving up easy goals lately. However, it would be hard for anyone to argue that a performance like the weekend's isn't a sign of things heading in the right direction, form wise.

As others have alluded to, Liverpool over the last 3 games seem to be heading into their own slump but I suppose they could just be one good performance away from getting out of it themselves. I like the theory about Klopp bringing up the 5subs, maybe they are flagging a bit and he can see it. Then again, there's no reason they should be more run down than City's players, other than Klopp hasn't been rotating enough perhaps. They don't have the excuse of a small squad anymore, though.

Just looking at arsenals fixtures it’s unfortunate for us that the Liverpool game falls between Leicester and villa. It means Arsenal have 3 games in 6 days with Liverpool sandwiched in between.

16 30 kick off sunday v Leicester
20 00 Wednesday v Liverpool
12 30 saturday v villa

wonder if arsenal will decide to rotate for the Liverpool game so they are fresher for the 2 more winnable games
One thing in our favour, Brighton have had a free week before their Saturday 12:30 game.

Run-in doesn't look too bad IMO:

City:
Remaining games:
Crystal Palace (A), Burnley (A), Liverpool (H), Wolves (A),
Watford (H), Leeds (A), Newcastle (H), West Ham (A), Aston Villa (H).
Date TBA: Brighton (H)

Liverpool:
Remaining games: Brighton (A), Arsenal (A), Watford (H),
Man City (A), Aston Villa (A), Everton (H), Newcastle United (A), Tottenham (H), Southampton (A), Wolves (H).
Date TBA: Man United (H)

We played well in the 2nd half at Everton.

Brighton drew their last game against Liverpool and beat them last season. The last 3 previous meetings it is W1 D2 for Brighton. As difficult a fixture for them as Crystal Palace is for us.
