How many points will be needed to win the league?

Arsenal won 16 of their 18 league matches in 2024, City pretty much matched them, with 16 wins from 19 and three draws.

If any of those victories had been draws or losses, and crucially no other results changed, Arsenal would have won the title.

If arsenal had their last season's first half, and this season's second half, my aunt would be my uncle.

Or something like that.

I’d have snapped your hand off for a league win at the start of the season. So hard to do off the back of winning the treble and losing key players.

I’d usually like us to win the UCL over the PL, but this season 4 in a row was too special! Going to be the same next season now. I want to extend our streak to 5. That means we’ll be at least 6 years away from anyone taking that record!

People argued here a 4 in a row was never done for a reason, and that it maybe couldn't be done.

I argued it had only not been done because there had never been a team good enough to do it. A team like this one. That I was convinced was good enough.

Even with those shit summer signings, even with the post treble hangover, even with the ageing or missing players. The margins were what got us in that autumn to winter spell, but we rode it out and the quality amd personality came out.

I'm so happy for the guys. So so happy.

Losing Gundo and Mahrez left a huge hole in terms of goals and assists. Other players in the squad have stepped up on this, Foden wasn’t a starter for last years champions league final now he’s produced an amazing season. Rodri as invaluable as he is in holding in midfield, with Kovacic arriving this has enabled him to push further forward and up his goals and assist to a season best. I’m guilty as anyone writing this team off, I thought the league was gone in December. The run from them to now has been superhuman to remain undefeated, this feels very special to get four in a row specially off the back of winning the treble last season.

De Bruyne coming back in January and returning the stats he did was impressive. That Newcastle away game felt like a turning point coming back from the dead, Kev scoring and then assisting the winner for Bobb put huge doubts in Arsenal and Liverpool’s minds.

A remarkable achievement, particularly when you look at the players who have come and gone during the 4 years.

Ederson, Carson, Walker, Dias, Stones, Ake, Rodri, KDB, Bernardo and Foden those who have won it 4 times in a row.

Gundogan, Mahrez, Aguero, Jesus, Sterling, Zinchenko, Laporte, Fernandinho players who have gone during that time.

It's quite remarkable that we've kept pushing and pushing and pushing throughout that period, despite the injuries, despite the changes in the squad and despite having two others teams challenge us. We've won it on the final day twice in that period. We've won the treble during that period.

It's the greatest achievement in English football history, simple as that.

I don't look at that game with us as the moment. They could have come and won it or got battered. How many times have we been to Anfield and had to dig in? Their record at our place meant they had to take a certain approach.

It was their run around Christmas where they dropped too many points in consecutive games. They didn't really have a reason to. We had injuries and Rodri's suspension which cost us. They didn't have any excuses.

Fair points.

But if they’d had a go at us and tried beaten us, they would have been 2 points better off, and we’d have been 1 point worse off. They got draw and a point, but like other results, it ultimately cost them the title. Not to mention the psychological lift it gave the City players that Rodri touched on.

Guess the players will prefer to win the CL next season, and the club world cup. That (largely undeserved) defeat vs Madrid will be motivating them to win those completions. We'll be preparing for next season having those trophies in mind.

Of course, we'll try to win 5 in a row but that won't be the priority.

After losing at Aston Villa 1.0, where in fairness they were the far superior team, we won 19 and drew 4 of our remaining 23 games to win the title by 2 points. That's 61 points from 69. That is a phenomenal performance in any situation. But more so after winning the treble, the super cup and the world club cup. That is a legendary performance.

This is why it's so important that justice is done and we defend ourselves successfully against the charges. The red cartel must not be allowed to take away everything that has been built at the club over the last 16 years. They couldn't stop us on the pitch and they are now trying to stop us off the pitch. We were cleared at CAS of any financial wrong doing. Unless there's damning new evidence, they are not taking our legacy away.

Come on City!

4-IN-A-ROW, 6 out of 7!

What an outstanding achievement by an outstanding football team!

The consistency shown over this period of time, with players who've become legends leaving and players coming in with no noticeable dropoff in team performance, has been unbelievable really.

The magnitiude of this achievement hasn't sunk in yet but i doubt it will until, the great man, Pep leaves.

But what a ride it's been and it's still not over.
Another Double is up for grabs on Saturday then Pep gets a break to think about winning 5 titles in a row and how to win the CL again.

What a time to be a BLUE!

COME ON CITY!!!!

When are we starting next season's thread? Can't wait to write off our chances in January again only for us to come back and win it.

A nice easy procession to the title were we start the season well, have a good November and December period, win at Anfield and piss it by 20 points would be a nice change.
Imagine the crying.
