Don't get me wrong, I will by no means be distraught with a draw. Will welcome it if it happens.

But with a better goal difference they will stay top even if we win our games in hand, till we meet at their place, so for that reason mostly (and a few others too) I want an Arsenal win. Whereas after an Arsenal win, we still jump ahead of them if we win out games.
A draw is by no means a bad day for us but comes a distant second in my preferred outcomes.

It makes a big difference. A draw means we have to win at Anfield to overtake them, an Arsenal win means a draw there is enough.

And that's just the pure mathematics of it, never mind momentum, psychological strength etc.

A draw doesn't mean that we have to win at Anfield, as it is not guaranteed that their GD will be better than ours come May. What's more, our GD is likely to be better than theirs in May. Our GD was better even when we finished 18 pts off them. It's how Pep football works.

Liverpool didn't lose the title in 18/19 due to losses but due to draws...

We could still finish outside the top 4 come May, regardless of the result today. So could Liverpool, and Arsenal.

Yes anythibg can happen over the long term, but is a bit of a pointless analogy to the discussion at hand and the short term momentum and possible outcomes.

We were a winning team before him and we will be a winning team with him and likely a winning team after him.
The comparisons with Marsh don’t hold up in any way shape or form and are usually trotted out in a lazy fashion to make a point.
A point which is nonsensical when put under any scrutiny.

Agree that Pep knows what he’s doing though.
Which thankfully will see Haaland back where he belongs for the rest of the season.

STARTING a partly fit Erling, who has been injured for 9 weeks,in a game like this is unnecessary and unlike you, Pep won't do it !!

Erling will be introduced progressively as his fitness, condition and rhythm improves....and as the team needs him.

If this had happened with Rodney Marsh in March and April 1972 we'd probably have deservedly won the league.

The 'comparison' as you refer to it, is neither lazy, nonsensical nor point scoring.

The historical reflection is relevant but perhaps only to those of a certain vintage who have the benefit of experience.

How old are you ?

I was born March 1972 and even I know this story. Rodney Marsh cost us the title!
