How many points will be needed to win the league?

I’ve been a negative bastard for 42 years and I’m not going to change now

In all seriousness I don’t see where Liverpool are dropping many points

In 18-19 title race, from mid-February till end of season, Liverpool dropped points in only 2 games, the 2 draws at United(A) and Everton(A). Guess what, they've to play these exact fixtures and both these teams would love to spoil the Klopp farewell. They also have to play Aston Villa (A) second last game of the season. If Villa are chasing Top 4, then it's going to be a hell of a game.
Just like City are feeling the pressure of chasing 2 teams, Liverpool and Arsenal will be having it as well. They won't be able to keep destroying teams week in week out.

Team | Pld | W | D | L | GF | GA | GD | Pts
 1
| LIV | 25 | 17 | 6 | 2 | 59 | 24 | +35 | 57
 2 | MCI | 25 | 17 | 5 | 3 | 58 | 26 | + 32 | 56
 3 | ARS | 25 | 17 | 4 | 4 | 58 | 22 | + 36 | 55

Finely poised going in to the final third of the season with almost nothing to separate the top three.

It makes me laugh when people say we've made the league uncompetitive yet we''re witnessing one of the most closely contested title races the league has seen involving three genuinely top teams which rarely happens.

Not every season can be competitive, I don't think Leicester had a close challenger, neither did Conte's Chelsea or Liverpool. But, most seasons must have been interesting for the football fans.

16/17 - Conte's 3-5-2
17/18 - A Pep team in shark mode, City competing after 3 seasons
18/19 - Closest title race since 11/12, 97 vs 98 points
19/20 - Liverpool's best ever team
20/21 - ?
21/22 - Close title race, 92 vs 93 points
22/23 - Close title race, Arsenal falling apart at the end
23/24 - Title race involving 3 teams

Only 20/21 could be called a boring season (although not for City fans).

At this moment now I have Arsenal favourites they look like us last season giving next to nought chances once they get one they go back to control probing then usually get another goal! They will of learnt from last season to Arteta also! Well at least it won't be the scousers winning it if we don't!

Arsenals nerve won't hold.

Arteta is part of that problem.

Hope so and yeah there still 13 games left a lot can happen! Just think Arteta is happy to sit back and they will at ours! We on the other hand won't go to Anfield and defend we will go and take the game to them!

Wonder if it would help if we invited teams onto us a bit more by speeding things up and being prepared to surrender possession more often than we do.
At the moment we are slowly advancing into a 10 man wall without creating enough and constantly leaving ourselves very open to the counter
Walking football last night !!

On form I have to make us 3rd favourites but mentally we should have the edge.

Let’s see how the nerves of the other two challengers stand up once we get closer to the finishing line.

I don’t think Arse or Pool have the bottle our players have. We just need to stay close to keep the pressure on.

Think the race starts properly now. Everyone even on games.

Not sure we're best equipped at the moment but we just have to keep winning.

Arsenal's fixture list isn't kind. They have City (A), Brighton (A), Wolves (A), Spurs (A) and United (A). They also have to play Newcastle, Chelsea and Villa.

Liverpools injuries could be telling now, they should beat Luton tonight but have a cup final at the weekend, if they pick up a few more before the end of March it could be telling. Arsenal will have learnt from last year but they have some tough fixtures coming up, it’s going to be close the head to heads are vital, win them and I’ll be very confident.

Not really bothered this season after we won the treble...it was always going to be a tough ask to keep that momentum going into this season, but the fact we are still up there and nowhere near our usual levels shows the character and talent of this team

I honestly think we could win another CL this season instead.

Then the team wilk rest, Pep will add 2 or 3 players to the squad and next season we will see us blitz the PL again

I hope in the summer Pep looks at our attacking play and how we can speed it up Its great keeping hold of possession, but like last night and other games this season we really need to start looking at playing an earlier ball to Haaland and get him running towards goal - its no coincedence that last nights goal came about that way because Haaland is best when that option is used.

Too many times we get to the final third and then allow the oppo team to get back in numbers. We dont have to choose that option all the time, i would love to see us just mix it a little

We don't allow teams to get back, other teams have coaches too and are drilled to get back into a low block quickly, that's if they ever leave it to start with, most never leave it, and when Brentford did or Everton the other week we exploit it.

Yeah that's fair and it is what we do also but the way we playing making hard work of games going to be tight

Understat strip the luck out of the table and help from the refs ;-)

The table should read

City 54

Arsenal 53

Liverpool 49

However, given that Liverpool have more points in the bag than their performances deserve and they have a comparative easier run in, ECI are currently predicting a finish of..

City 85

Liverpool 85

Arsenal 81

Opta have it…

Liverpool 86

City 85

Arsenal 82

All very close

If we’re not going off the last 2 games, I’d suggest that we’re actually the form team. Over the last 6 games we have only dropped 2 points compared to both Liverpool and Arsenal who have dropped 3. Furthermore, since our last loss on 6 Dec, a total of 10 games, we’ve only dropped 4 points and lost none. In that period, Liverpool have dropped 7, Arsenal have dropped 11.

I’m not saying we are favourites, just that we have the form and have the mentality to continue that run. And we all know that this is a period where Pep tries to do the bare minimum in order to give us maximum benefit for the run-in.

Have Liverpool and Arsenal got the balls to go all the way, I remain to be convinced.

They won't sit back. All teams play their best game, and theirs isn't sitting back. That's also the positive for us - although we have a lot of the bigger teams to play, they won't be parking the bus - which helps us.
Apart from United of course, who'll counter-attack us to death.
Scum.
