Will we make the top 5?

We are about to embark on a 2 Yr rebuild and to get the right players we need the money from champions league football and the status of a champions league team.

If this forum is anything to go by, a lot of City fans have dropped the CL cup scheme next season.

The club will have to find more football tourists, sell more tickets to away fans in the home ends, or there will be more empty seats for CL games, especially for the lesser CL games.

Back to the top 5 race.

No point flapping and getting worked up.

Pep and the players will have failed if top 5 is not secured.

We will probably just do enough. This season should be used as a warning for the future.

Do not rest on laurels and buy the best players available to make an immediate impact. No more squad fillers.
I bet you are secretetly thinking as I am, the lot was there for the taking.

A shit Dippers walked the league. I don't think they are as good as the Arse sides we pipped the last 2 years.

A CL that has been wide open since the knock out stage. The 2 finalists are decent but nothing more.

It confirms one thing for me though, it is 100% right to let Sir Kev go :-(

I don’t think you’ve watched Southampton much this season then! They certainly didn’t go out to try and win it, which is absolutely fine.
I admit, I've them twice (v us).

Their points tally suggests they get beat most weeks.

My point was they didn't have to try very hard not to lose. Our performance was so dissapointing.

There are teams that go all our to defend to get a point because they need it.

I didn't think that was them yesterday, our attack was just woeful!

I said 3 points would be enough but that relies on Spuds and Rags getting something.

And they are both spineless so 4 points required it is then. Wouldn’t surprise me if we draw v Bournemouth just to put us through the wringer.

They celebrated the point like they won the league and then trolled Derby on social media. It was definitely on their minds mate!

But agree they didn't have to work very hard for it.

I'm still confident we will make the top 5. Point against Bournemouth then beat Fulham final day. Villa will win their two, Newcastle's games are toughest, Forest running out of steam but will give Chelsea a huge test final day.

Newcastle, Villa and City will take the final spots.
Yeah, just pissed off because second was achievable.

In the grand scheme of things second in the league is good.

We still harp on (some of us) about finishing second in '77.

I remain ever the optimist and hope we get runners up.

2 wins and fingers crossed for the rest.

But, it could equally go tits up!

Imagine how many more will drop out if the scheme if we end up in the Thursday night cup.
They would have to shut the top tiers.

I hope you're ready for the pile on - this forum becomes more like a cult every day.
Criticise Pep, or the team, at your peril!!
Fuck em mate,

I've supported City a lot longer than Pep and will be here long after he's gone.

Best football manager the world has ever seen and rewritten the record books in England, but something went wrong in October.

I refuse to believe getting knocked out of the league cup by Spuds had such a devastating effect on the squad :-)

If we win on Saturday I would love to see Pep lift the cup!

Afterall, he said last year after losing it "we'll be back next year"

As predicted, Forest shit the bed. Leicester have lost 24 times this season but Forest couldn't beat them. Thursday night cup for them.

Marinakis embarrassing himself again. Sit down fatty.
Fuck knows how he passed a fit and proper persons test with his background.

I don't care whether we are 2nd or 5th to be honest. And I would take the FA Cup and no CL as well. Might be in the minority there but a trophy means so much more than money in the bank for me. I get it might mean we can't buy the best players, but I don't think one year out of it would do much harm considering how much we have pocketed in the past few seasons.

We are absolutely right to let him go.

But

He still has more goals assists this season than.

Doku
Savinho
Foden
Silva
Kovacic
Gundogan
Grealish

Despite playing less games than all of them bar Grealish (although his pitiful tally of 2 is not really worthy of any mention.)

He may have Declined due to age but what excuse have some of them got?

In a way I am glad we can't get 2nd. In the long run it's for the best.

Finishing 2nd would have been a similar equivalent of United and Ten Hag winning the FA Cup last season and thinking everything wasn't as bad as it all seems.

Our rebuild is going to be huge and finishing 2nd would have maybe fooled a few at the club into thinking that just a few additions and a fresh season outlook and we go again.

If Rags or Spurs can get a draw at Chelsea or Villa Friday we just need to win next Tuesday and we have made it,but it's a very big if but football's a funny game.7-30 and 8-15 kick offs.

It would be typical City if it happens and it all comes down and back to us from that cup final..
Agreed.

Pep and the players had one more week to stay professional, beat the Rags, and they could have paraded the PL trophy and the FA Cup, and then got leathered.

City would have done the double, double, which had never been done before.

Just like we did against Southampton, the 2nd worst team in PL history. At least they scored 2.

There's absolutely no chance of either of Spurs or United getting anything next weekend. Neither side are even trying in the league anymore and they'll both field shadow teams 5 days before their one and only meaningful game left this season.

We blew it yesterday, typical City! It will be humiliating if United get into the Champions League and we don’t. They have 39 points, we have 65. Insanity prevails.
Good point and yet another reason why the CL should be viewed as a joke competition
