Jan Vertonghen's Player of the Month Award for March 2013 is the 12th time it has gone to a Spurs player.

Spurs have won the Manager of the Month 8 times.

Do they put those awards in the club trophy cabinet ?

No, I think they are personal awards.

Alex Ferguson had to construct an extension to his house to house his.

I think you'll find the extension was for all his empties.

Don't get me wrong scoring 3 goals in a month is a very good return for a defender but surely first and foremost his job is to stop the opposition scoring? Playing for a team that has conceeded 6 in 4 games and not kept a clean sheet in that time is not, in my humble opinion, the criteria for a player picking up a player of the month award.

Diddums? because somebody doesn't agree with the award. What exactly are the great Tottenham Hotspur doing this season? Conquered by the mighty Leeds in the FA Cup, Norwich in the League Cup and made a 2nd rate team look like Baselona in the Europa League. Who gives a shit about player of the month? Undeserved btw.

Show me a graph pal.

You seem to be very hot under the collar simply because a Spurs player happened to win a Player of the Month award.

Make yourself a nice cup of tea and try to relax.

Player of the month in the Premier League? We've won the competition pal.

Graph that.

That's an interesting point - although City won the League last season and are in second place this season, you would have thought that your players would have picked-up far more of these awards than they have.

Perhaps it's a case of the whole being greater than the parts?

Player of the Month Awards 2011-12 & 2012-13

4 Tottenham Hotspur
2 Everton
2 Manchester City
2 Manchester United
1 Arsenal
1 Chelsea
1 Reading
1 Sunderland
1 Swansea City
1 West Bromwich Albion

I admit, your right. Aguero, Richards, Zaba, Kompany, Silva and Yaya etc, hand in your medals, a player of the month is much more important.

Great players are expected to do well, that's why they don't receive votes. If they did the same players would win the award every year, rather than the smaller clubs with small attendances.

Are these players all in the original timeframe you presented?

Do you think Gerrard would give away those 5 "prestigious" awards for a PL with Liverpool?

You said "Great players are expected to do well, that's why they don't receive votes".

Quite obviously, they do.

I then edited the post.

Would Steven Gerrard swap his 5 player of the month awards for a PL medal?

I think you need to return to your wall and stick a large sheet of paper containing "please help spurs win the league" on it.

Fuck me, the god of irony is busy tonight. He posted an honest opinion and it was you who got all arsey about it because it's different to yours.
What a fucking mard arse.

Hahaha, are you seriously trying to tell us that you have a superior squad/first team ? You're a proper fucking whopper!

If it were true, wouldn't that mean you'd have to admit that Mancini is a far better manager than 'arry or AVB ?

Why not show us a graph about how bitter you are ?

Seriously, you've shown yourself to be nothing more than a big slapped arse since your team were embarrassed on Thursday. Man up you fucking tart.

No, I was trying to say the exact reverse.

That as a unified squad, City are more successful than Spurs although we might have some better individual players.

Diddums.

Diddums? Fucking diddums??? I put across an opinion about a spurs player on a spurs thread and rather than debate it like a full grown adult you reply with diddums!

I personally couldn't give a flying fuck who wins player of the month just thought it was interesting a defender had won it when quite clearly, he, as part of a defence, hadnt done anything that exceptional. I'll refrain from commenting on his individual performances as ive only seen the Liverpool game.

As for 'trying to wind people up' Jesus fucking Christ get a life, debate your point rather than reverting to graphs and we can all get along like normal human beings.

What is most telling about that list is the number of players from the 'Sky 4' in there. 11 out of the 14 (although I doubt Robbie Keane secured any of his awards whilst at Liverpool) played for that group of clubs we rarely hear about anymore.

When you look at that, it is easy to understand why our good fortune has been met with hostility by so many within the game. It was a nice cosy, self-perpetuating little world which we (and in all fairness, to some extent, Spurs) smashed apart.

Another example of one of your thinly veiled digs at City.

I like banter but your digs are often delivered with a sugness and rightuousness.

As for Spurs winning personal awards and no trophies, I think this reflects the fact that Spurs receive far more adulation in the press than they deserve.

A saying springs to mind whenever Spurs are being discussed: fur coat, no knickers.
