Wonder how much Southampton got from this deal

Fuck all.

Spurs agreed to pre-pay all additional add-ons when Southampton were in financial trouble.

We gave them an extra £2,500,000 on top of the £5,000,000 we paid for his transfer.

So Gareth Bale cost Spurs a total of £7,500,000.

If only Spurs had managed to sell him a few years ago when they tried to shift him for a couple of mill on account of him being a fucking Jonah.
I can't believe Levy had the cheek to go on about how Spurs developed him. Spurs had no choice because no fucker else wanted him at the time.
Spurs don't deserve the windfall they've just received. I hope every single new player flops spectacularly.

I love how THFC60606095 has the proper figures for every transfer.

Funny how his figures for selling players are always higher than EVERY media outlet, and his figures for buying players are always lower than EVERY media outlet.

It was a fluke of epic proportions. He was an injury prone left back who played shit everytime he came on for them and they tried and tried to offload him but couldn't. His transformation isn't down to the spuds but Bale getting his head down and working his arse off to prove everyone (spuds included) wrong.

From Wiki...

On 25 May 2007, Bale signed a four-year deal with Tottenham Hotspur with Spurs paying an initial £5 million for Bale, potentially rising to £10 million based on appearances and success.

However, Tottenham paid Southampton an early settlement payment of £2 million in 2008 to reduce the final fee to £7 million and allow the Saints the immediate cash that they desperately needed.

...it appears I might have overestimated what Spurs paid for Bale by about half a million quid.

Oh well.
