£15,000 a week for the next four years is a guaranteed £3.12m for Andros Townsend before any bonuses and sponsorship deals are added.

That's not too shabby really.
Are you really telling me his agent´s not a total spunk bubble? Come on , double that´s hardly breaking the fookin bank for England´s saviour. How much are Zidane and fookin Wellwank on then?

This is as good an example as you'll get of the way Spurs manage their finances.

We pay decent wages but refuse to be extravagant.

In fact, our £90m annual wage bill is £53m less than Arsenal's, who only finished a point ahead of us last season and £29m less than Liverpool, who finished 11 points and two places behind us.

And it's why your star players jump ship the second someone comes sniffing. Players and agents are greedy twats and if you don't fork up the cash someone else will.

Say what you will but getting Townsend to agree to a 4 year deal on 15k a week is very very impressive. Given the way Townsend is being hyped in the media.

Is Townsend really on only £15k/wk?

I was waiting outside a newsagents today and made the mistake of looking at the backpages of the tabloids. One said £15k, up from £6k, but another said £40+ (can't remember the exact figure). Wouldn't be surprised if they had both just plucked figures out of the air.

Can't believe I put 'only' and '£15k/wk' in the same sentence!

It's probably £15k starter with bonuses to make it to around 40k providing he starts and plays?
No way is he on £15k for me.

You should bear in mind that Tottenham's total annual wage bill is £90m spread amongst over 80 players.

That gives an average annual wage of about £1,125,000 per player.

While some players will be on over £3m per year, the vast majority won't be on anything like that.

West Ham back to their usual self after giving it their all in their cup final.

Why didn't we open them up like that?

because we are a better team, more fluid and have a better manager rather than Villas Boas who refuses to change his system?

Agreed, our manager knows what he's doing, not like AVB or should that be MWB (Mourinho Wanna Be)?
