To the Spurs fans who post on here, what do you make of Sandro? Every time I seen him play I think he's fantastic, is he generally well thought of at Spurs? As a chance of going to the world cup if he outperforms Lucas this year.

He's a beast, everyone loves him including he players! First name on the team sheet for me. Our form dipped once he got injured last year but that first start again villa in God knows how long he looked great again.

I like how he's modest and a nice guy, but very aggressive yet fair on the pitch.

He has Capoue fighting for his place so it'll keep him on his toes
I've rated him since his absurd long range goal at the Bridge a few years back. Sandro + Modric in midfield was something I envied at the time. I think you were better back then with VDV, Bale and an arsed Adebayor than you are now, but we'll see how this team develops.

That was a cracker, I think redknapp bollocked him after for being so far forward! lol. The team then was brilliant and much better than the one we had now, but this one has a lot more potential and a lot younger

I don't think we had Adebayor back then haha, that was when we had to start one of the woeful trio of Crouch, Defoe and Pav up front and they were all fucking awful.

We did look good for half a season with Ade, VDV, Modric, Bale, and Lennon in Harry's last season but Harry could never keep us going for the full season and we against fell away spectacularly. A lot of fans have short memory and long for the supposedly brilliant attacking football that we played under Harry that resulted in numerous thrashings against the better teams. It was a joke how fragile we were for so talented a set of players. AVB is kind of on the other end of the spectrum but as far as getting results is concerned it works a lot better.

Didn't you have him on loan? Guess not. I think your team was better but Harry was never good enough to get the most out of it. I don't remember it the skewed way at all, Spurs' collapse at the end is what made it funny because you should have made it and just couldn't hold it together all the way. Especially in his last season when you surrendered 3rd right at the end.

AVB with that team might have taken you to the CL, more frequently anyway. I think he could have set that Spurs team up more like his successful Porto side, something that didn't work with our team. But you had more comparable players, even a better version of Hulk.

You had Adebayor on a season long loan in the 2011-12 season, the last season VDV and Modric were with you I think. You did look good in attack back then, a more overall threat with Bale and Lennon as well.

Although I am impressed with the signing of Eriksson, but I still think you need another top striker.

Not the season where Sandro scored in that game, we got Adebayor on loan the next season (Harry's last where we threw away third).

It's hard to say which first team is better, but our squad is certainly stronger now. What AVB is trying to do is pretty tough to figure out. It doesn't seem like he's trying to recreate that Porto team because we didn't really buy players who are similar to the ones he had at Porto. For instance, we bought Paulinho instead of a Modric/Moutinho type of playmaker. Porto, iirc, also seemed to play from back to front quicker than we do. He also picks players like Sigurdsson who aren't very creative but get into goal scoring positions over players who are more creative.

I would have to say that Harry's team had the better players and the greater potential for growth, but Redknapp could not get the best out of them. AVB being a much better manager will do more with less. If the teams met I would fancy the AVB team to win more often.

When you look at Redknapp's midfield and attack he could have played a midfield and front line looking like this

Adebayor
VDV
Bale Modric Sandro Lennon

Adebayor was a lazy so and so, who wasted away his potential, but he had a lot and when he bothered could be some striker. VDV still a level above Holtby and Erikson, whilst Bale and Modric speak for themselves. Only Townsend over Lennon is a slight improvement. In both teams the defence was not particularly great.

Lamela looks wank so far. If he was the direct replacement for bale then spurs are going to struggle for top 4 imo.

He was never a direct replacement at all but AVB isn't rushing him in at all. Baldini wanted lamela most of all when he arrived. It's hard to judge on cameo appearances. He didn't play well in Europa but then again none of our team did!
