John Peel played Teenage Kicks twice running on his late night show. He recounted how the switchboard lit up with A&R men enquiring about the origin of the amateur tape. The track was recorded and released within a week.
Still in my top ten.

We all laughed at Roger Daltry singing that he hoped he died before he got old not so many years back.
Finding myself singing along to teenage dreams being so hard to beat - I must be part American somewhere as I certainly don’t see the irony ;)
