I don’t know much about chess, and I wasn’t even sure I was right, but it’s one of those questions where you make an educated guess. The comedy comes from sitting there and wondering what was going on in the contestant’s head that could make them imagine that that was a plausible answer?

I don't think they try to make an educated guess, they just feel put on the spot and say the first thing that comes into their head.

The thing is, I understand their logic. Which makes it even funnier. There's a clip of Homer Simpson doing a Godfather type role (he is referred to as Don Homer) eating a doughnut!

The did refer to Homer Simpson in their pre answer ramblings.

It’s a reasonable use of lateral thinking, but it doesn’t make them less thick.

Moneybags final today... Woman given a choice between the record distances for throwing a cowpat and a matchstick - Which could be thrown further than 69 metres?

She actually thought that a matchstick could be thrown over 70 metres. A bloody matchstick...

Had the chance to win £115k and lost it on that first question. Thick as pigshit.
