Smoking does not equal harm and i have a healthy 74yr old mother and 77 year old father to prove it.
I love the way that all the local pubs are now thriving since the ban. All those non-smokers who now go to the pub in their droves have really boosted trade and it's great to see all those people working in the trade making a nice living and providing employment in the community isn't it?

So let me get this straight;
A blanket smoking ban is introduced in all pubs so those that don't smoke can go in them and not breath secong hand smoke or smell when they go home.
The smokers that were in the pub every day now no longer go because they're forced to go outside for a fag.
None of the self righteous anti smoking brigade who thought the ban was a good idea go into the lovely smelling, smoke free pubs because they never went in them before the ban anyway.
And you blame those that have been forced out for the demise of the boozer?

Should be allowed to smoke in pubs, in Ukraine it was fucking brilliant seeing people smoke. Felt like a proper pub. I don't even smoke but I miss it not being allowed in pubs.
I guess my 86 year old nanna died due to smoking and not old age lol.

Double standards from a government intent on being seen to do something about smoking but is hooked itself on the tax revenue it gains from smokers.
I'd have more respect for the smoking law if they banned the sale.
The fact they wont or ever will means they should not be so draconian all of a sudden about the use of nicotine.
I have never smoked btw.

Can't see how anyone can use the old "better ban cars & factories etc, cos they cause more pollution than smoking" as a bona fide argument.
Transport and industry are essential, smoking is not.
I bet 99% of smokers only do it due to peer pressure and to look cool.
The smoking ban in pubs was a top idea. Even if it means I have to sit on my todd for a few moments every twenty minutes because all my mates are outside killing themselves!!

In my local 4 of the main 5 barstaff were smokers and the non smoker was so chuffed the ban was coming in. However within 3 months it was clear trade was seriously down with the cold weather coming aswell. Hours were cut. Then just after Christmas hols 2 were let go for good including the non smoker (top girl). Not sure about me local's future with 4 other pubs in the area shut since the ban.
As I said in my OP I don't mind going outdoors really. But I like having mates round at mine or vice versa for few tinnies and realised double quick it costs about a third.
I tend to think each ebstablishment should have the choice. Only my opinion.
