The views of Jesus are now seen as woke and too left/liberal

This 'Liberal-Left' construction is an import from the USA, where the furthest left in the mainstream are like moderate Tories.

Sadly, we are headed in the same way, but it's still bogus. You can be liberal without being left and left without being liberal. Both schools of thought are very wide. Margaret Thatcher was an (economic) liberal.

That last line belongs in the thread where you refuse to call things by their new names.

I’ll still call a **** a ****.

JC has always been a tool used ny man to grab power and cash, none of the cunts do as he preached so why start worrying about it now

I would argue that from a social perspective, all of our major UK parties are extremely close together with regards to their degree of social liberalism. Economic liberalism is usually the biggest differentiator but they all seem to cluster to the status quo on social matters. We don’t really have a major radically progressive party (the Greens maybe closest?), nor do we have a super orthodox Conservative Party.

They all on paper believe in gay rights, abortion rights, equality, freedom of speech (to varying degrees).

The big differences in policy I can think of are opinions on drug policy and the Tories internal struggle on whether to stay in the ECHR (which they still are in favour of for the time being).

The culture wars stuff is the Tories way of trying to place themselves on the social conservative side, but even then they know they couldn’t actually do anything policy wise like banning abortions or gay marriage. The wokeism stuff is more of a social commentary distraction tactic than a policy platform.

It is a nonsense, being liberal politically and being left are completely different ideologies.

As youvsay a US contruct because both sides of their political ideologies are right wing conservatism with lesser levels of indifference to the workers and poor
