Re: can we close the gap
The one thing that we've learnt (or should have learnt) is that the run-in takes a life of its own, often culminating in the easier games proving the most difficult. Nerves play a huge part, as do attitude. fitness, and most important of all, catching teams at the right time.
On both occasions that we won the Premier League, City actually had the hardest run-in. However, I don't remember anybody predicting that we would win at Palace and Everton, but only draw at home to Sunderland.
Similarly, United always seemed to beat Wigan 4-0 or 5-0 every season. Could anybody see them losing in 2012?
Our hardest game was supposedly at Champions League chasing Newcastle. The QPR game the following week was an obvious walkover.
This season we still have to visit White Hart Lane. A difficult fixture, but Spurs might have one eye on winning the Europa League.
Having said that, if we win at Anfield then Chelsea will start to feel the heat.
