It's been a couple of years since I watched it, but I think he mentions it in the doc. Dr Moreau springs to mind. Still like his films though, and he should've got an Oscar for Tombstone.

Just came to post. One of my very favo(u)rite bands of all time. Not too many 1-2 punches I like better than their first two studio records, and their EPs were fantastic also. Recall reading he later became a music executive with Apple of all things. RIP to a great bassist.

First saw them play sometime in the late seventies, and the gig nearly got called off because Dave had the flu .. carried on though and was an amazing gig - great band during that time. RIP

I may or may not have mentioned this, but "Entertainment!" is my favo(u)rite record of all time.
I've still never heard anything that sounds like it. I think it's the near-perfect fully-realiz(s)ed blend of punk and funk (and therefore dance) music. The rhythm section (Dave and Hugo) is just immense. I'm not sure I like the drums better on any song than those on "Guns Before Butter". Fucking iconic. A music critic once said the music reminded him of a fish caught on a line that you've pulled out of the water -- flopping around and twisting to escape the hook in desperation (but limited in where it can go and knowing it's caught by death -- like humans). What a metaphor.
And the Marxist perspective is so sharp and intellectually interesting that regardless of one's politics, it's worth hearing.
Add to all that one of the all-time great album covers (which is another thread we should do btw).
