I seem to remember that he got a lot of stick for his farming background at the time. Then you look at who the 'muricans have elected in two of the last three elections. Carter came across as a decent bloke. And he left a legacy behind, in the form of the Camp David accords, which eventually led to the Israel/Egypt peace treaty in 1979.

Sad news even if not unexpected bearing in mind his health. Only a few weeks ago when his final show went out. Hope he's found another station up there. RIP Sir

A broadcasting legend. Listened to his last show a few weeks back out of pure respect for the guy. It was sad listening knowing that he knew he didn't have long left. RIP

I remember his sign off and he sounded terrible, we just put whispering Bob on who announced it a sad moment, poor Tony Blackburn will be gutted only him left from the original R1 line up I think and he cheated death last year as well.
