I watched III again a couple of weeks back. As a stand alone film, it's okay-ish (I suppose). Problem is, it's following two of the greatest films ever made. And it was always going to struggle to live up to it's predecessors.

Still trying to figure out how Sofia Coppola got the gig, mind you. Any clues?

Such sad news, he was an absolute legend and no one will replace what he did for the movie poster industry, it was so sad that he was diagnosed with alzheimers not that long ago, and he couldn't remember all the paintings he'd done, I'm lucky enough to have a few signed artwork of his, which I will treasure now.
RIP Drew and condolences to his wife, son and other family and friends.

Sofia Coppola got the gig as the original choice Winona Ryder dropped out due to 'nervous exhaustion' (breakdown possibly at the end of her relationship with Johnny Depp). The surname should give you a clue. The director Francis Ford Coppola was a relative. Sofia wasn't an actress and gave a sub standard performance. She later gained a measure of fame as a director of women related films (eg the Virgin suicides)

Her Dad. She has always maintained that she only did it as a favour to him. By the point she was cast, Julia Roberts and Madonna had passed on it and Winona Ryder was set to go but then couldn't for some reason.

Apparently she wasn't fussed about the crap reviews she got because she wasn't interested in being an actor. Ended up a successful director though I think.
