Rubbish news. I knew he'd been quite poorly not that long ago but for whatever reason I just assumed he'd been on the mend. 66 no age. RIP.

I had all the 12 inches, What? being my favourite as well as the 12 inch instrumental of Say Hello..... which I'd sing along to in the car and fail at the high notes at the end.
And the line in Insecure me that cracks me up to this day is (something like) "I cant think too much about the future, when I'm busy covering up my past"

Used to see Marc Almond on the dance floor most Monday nights at Phono's in Leeds. I guess Dave was with him lying low somewhere in the background. Student night, 50p a pint, great music and great times. RIP Dave.

Only heard a radio interview with him the other week, said he had been too ill to tour with Marc but was back doing some gigs again.

Anyone hear the interview clip on 5 Live when she went to see John Cleese after he'd sent her the scripts prior to filming Fawlty Towers ? He asked her if she liked what she'd read and she said yes.
"Any questions then ?", he asked her.
"Yes, why did Basil and Sybil get married ?" she replied.

Very sad her last few years were blighted by illness. She was far more dignified than Sybil in real life. RIP lady

Too many highlights to list but thrashing O’Reilly with an umbrella was amongst the most memorable, along with comments like calling Basil “an ageing, brilliantined stick insect”.

Lovely woman and sad to hear she has passed away. Not long after Timothy West either, what wonderful memories both have given us. Their son Samuel is a great actor too.
