The worst, tedious, dull, flat, lifeless, boring

game i have seen in a long long while.

Sunday lunchtime kick offs are fucking shit. They should be banned.

But we got the 3 points and that is all that matters - however playing the wngers on their wrong sides dont help - Petrov can play on the left only.

atmosphere was cack...not helped by the standard of play
Have to agree ...
looked like the team and us didnt want to kick a man whist he was down , very strange today could even hear the south stand singing shady lol

whats that formation all about? it looks more and more like we've got 6 playing at the back with every game and the middle 3rd was open to the pompey players for most of the game, we just backed off. So far back i thought deJong was marking VK at one point.

The South Stand never sing so that's no change. Another new low in the South Stand's history. Outsung by 300 pompey fans and TCWTB

To me the problem is obvious. All the top teams attack in numbers. Our problem is we only have one midfielder getting forward(Irelend) both Barry and De Jong hang back and offer little or no support to the attack which makes it hard for the attackers to retain possession.
I think thats why why we have sighned Vierra and Mcdonald. We only have Ireland as a box to box player with Johnson out injured.
Mancini indicated after the game today he was dissapointed with the play. We kept backing off and leaving all the space in the middle of the park. I dont think we need Barry and De Jong in the team at the same time for that reason.
Hopefully this new guy will make the difference.

Yes the game was dire, we can all see that.

But we got the win and thats all that matters.

You have to realise todays game was our first one straight after the carling cup, and we could still be hurting from it. Mancini tried to freshen things up by playing petrov, ireland and manu. But ireland was filth and contributed nothing but an assist.

The one thing i didnt understand was Mancini played 4-4-2, with this midfield:

Petrov--De jong--Barry--Ireland. With ireland and barry swapping.

He kept petrov on the right when we all know he is crap there and always cuts inside, so why did he bring bellamy on and put him on the left and Ireland on the right, when he could have just swapped ireland a petrov anyway!. Then we would have had a proper left winger playing in his correct position and got the best out of him and kept our width. It really frustrates me that Mancini refuses to play Petrov in he proper position!.

Can't really complain though, it was 3 points at the end of the day.

I agree, it was a shitter today. This new regime of defence before attack has solved alot of problems we had in the Hughes campaign but it has also added to some of the issues we see today. Mancini has a totally different outlook and tactical approach. The defenders tuck into the 18yd area leaving the flanks exposed which asks our once attack minded wide midfielders or wingers to work back & cover what is essentially for me a defenders role. We sit far too deep to protect our Holy Grail at the expense of forward thinking football. The best defensive midfielder we have ever had, Dejong is getting crushed between the defence & the midfield. I put this style of approach down to missing the chance of beating UTD by 3 or 4 at home, they were there for the taking. You could today clearly see Teves, Ade & Bellers disbelief as they scrapped for everything only to see our midfield parked up 10yrds away defending rather than supporting attack. After creating our 2 goal lead we left 5 bodies out of the box defending 1 Portsmouth striker on every free kick & corner. Its shit to see and our supermen upfront getting the shit kicked out of them through lack of support but we love em because they still give everything. Playing Petrov on the right continuosly proves there is something not right in our new bosses thoughts but I will not fault what change he has brought so far. Enjoy todays triumph over the leagues bottom club but be aware we will come a cropper at some point if we dont go for the throat with the speed and talent we have at our disposal.

Your perspective welcome!

this but I hate to say it but looks like he is trying to keep everyone happy/rotation policy maybe.
we need our best attacking players on the park from kick off bellamy and SWP must start to give the game and the fans the spark that was not there today. It is no good saying yeah 3 points etc we were shite for long parts of the game and were outplayed in areas we shouldn't have been. It is a blip but bobby must learn and call a fooking taxi for garrido before he costs us points

i can remember the tedious, dull, flat, lifeless, boring games that we used to lose. three point to the blues, is all that matters to me. rergardless of the football, i still had a laugh before, during and after the game.

i think after a hard week it was essential we took 3 points today. really poor performance but they are probably feeling low but i reckon big manc will sort it out. shit atmosphere but what can u expect. i was wankered last night and i was also in no mood to sing.
